Poll question: Help me! Which cell phone provider should I use?
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 07:47 PM by HypnoToad
While I love verizon's coverage, to replace my lost phone will cost a bit.

I'm likely better off cancelling and paying the cancel fee and going with a new provider. Been thinking T-Mobile for some reason. I'd get one with integrated PDA capabilities so I don't need to lug my PDA around anymore.

T-mobile does offer TWICE as many minutes per month for the same price as verizon. ($50/mo) That, to me, is an incentive to switch.

What say you?

THANKS MUCH!!

2. Cingular has rollover minutes -

and that's a damned nice perk.

Their coverage area is massive, and while they do not have a $50/month plan they have a $40/month plan (almost 50 after taxes) that gives you 450 anytime minutes w/ rollover, and 5000 nights/weekends (as good as unlimited in my book)

The next plan they have is for $60/month - 950 anytime minutes w/ Rollover + unlimited nights/weekends.

Rollover minutes do not expire for one year. Both plans offer unlimited mobile-mobile, and no roaming.

As for PDA phones - I just got the cingular 8125 and LOVE it. It has wifi - so I can surf online with no additional cost to me. It also plays movies and mp3s.

Edited to add: I've never had any issues w/ Cingular, but I've read personal accounts online that would beg to differ. As far as I'm concerned, they're ALL evil bastards - and I've heard horror stories about all providers.

3. I'd stick with Verizon
Their coverage is better. I found this out the hard way. I was visiting friends in Iowa last summer, when my dad was frantically trying to reach me to tell me my mom was dying. Cingular had no service in that area. He finally called a friend's land line, and the friend came to the home of yet another friend I was staying with. I got home to see my mom before she died, but I switched to Verizon soon after. I was in Iowa again in May, and everyone who tried to reach me could!

4. T-Mobile hasn't opened their service to NSA wiretapping
Verizon, Cingular, and Sprint all have.
