Before US Airways was absorbed by America West, it was US Air...

US Air was formed (in part) by the merger of Allegheny Airlines and Mohawk Airlines..

Both Allegheny and Mohawk were notorious in the 1950s and 1960s for flying DC-3s, DC-4s. DC-6s and Lockheed L-188 Electras at low altitudes over the hills and dales of New England, New York and Pennsylvania on trips that were notable for their turbulence and for the necessity of barf bags. These planes were the original Vomit Comets!

And now you know (cue the Paul Harvey mimic!)... the Rest Of The Story!!!
