I'm older than that! and I'm not 'old'. Age is an attittude. I know people who are 40 who're older than me. The kind who whine: "I'm so bored". yuck.

i would love to show you around. i was in san fran in may. same thing, hubby at jave one. i think he will be making it an annual thing, in fact will probably be a presenter next year. we took a couple extra days, and had a really good time. the city is finally growing on me. this was my 4th visit, but the first time i had a car! (actually, one visit i did drive out, but i blew up the car.) so, i got to get away from the things that you can take the bus to do. all the tourist stuff, and the downtown. got to get up to muir woods, stinson beach, and just drive around, and get to see the city. really enjoyed it. spent a part of my mother's day with the hippies in golden gate park. went to berkeley. caught some brew pubs. got lost. fun. so, pencil me in for next may, k? and find an excuse to come east.

Although, with 10 and 11 year old grandkids, that'd be kinda weird.
But I still feel about 23 most days!

So far. Mostly, I don't feel any different than at 18. Things that make me feel old: Younger people who don't know history, even recent history. Working on my house or other physical exertion. It hurts more, and I take longer to recover. My kids are grown. I can't read without glasses, now. AARP mailings. The gray in my beard.

16. i felt old at 50, but |
|
i will be 52 shortly, and figure i am only middle age. meaning that i still intend to be kicking at 100. i managed to pretty much get my health back, after several miserable years. and my kids are nearly grown. so, now it is getting to be MY life. so, it goes, young and healthy, not healthy, not gonna get healthy, then old. i guess i am a retread.

Age is very much in your head. I'm 43 and know many women my age who look and act like they're closer to my mother's age than mine. You know... everything but sweat pants and a tee-shirt is "too young", going to a party is frivolous and immoral... that sort of thing.
There is an attitude. Either you are going to deliberately go out and seek new worlds, new pursuits, new ideas, or you're going to sit passively and let life happen TO you. Those who choose the former, they stay young.

when dictated by a number, much like weight, IQ and income.
My mom is going to turn 70 this coming year. She's a vegetarian gym rat (thank you very much) and she'll kick your ass.

When I was little I thought 18 was old. As I got older, "old" became 25, then 30 then 40. I am closing in on 50 and "old" is still a far away thing for me. :D

21. I think, old is to old |
|
when...you can no longer take care of yourself. I mean, I understand that elderly people, need help in some cases, but if you need help with 99% of everything, I do believe, you are old, very old...
But I know 80yr olds, that take care of themselves completely...so maybe its more a mix of capability/spirit, than anything...

to shut the fuck up! He's 16 or 17 and every night, just when we want to sit out on the patio with a nice glass of wine, the stupid little shit fires up his remote control car. It has this irritating whine that goes on for hours!!! I want to ram that fricking car up his stupid ass. Why the hell isn't he out doing 16/17 year old stuff....like chasing girls & playing sports or getting shit-faced. One of these days that car is going to be found smashed!!!

33. My general rule of thumb is 15-20 before the average... |
|
..age of death for one's culture. Someone's who's 50 in the United States may be in fine shape due to good nutrition and consistent healthcare throughout their lifetime, whereas a 50-year-old in sub-Saharan Africa may be more infirm due to the collection of untreated health problems. I suppose there's some concept of a maximum age to which any human anywhere could aspire, but considering the unfair distribution of income, access to health care and other factors that determine lifespan, age truly is something unique to one's society.

My mom 91. lives alone, still drives, and sharp mentally, Has a full life, enjoys her friends, loves to cook still so she shares with nieghbors who aren't doing so well. She has kept up her hobbies, loves the theater, and keeps up with all family birthdays. Which are many, 5 children,14 grandchildren, 29 great grandkids and 4 great, great grandbabies. She is my inspiration of ageing gracefully and being involved with life. I think that is the secret! Age is a state of mind
