What's the deal with DeviantArt?

A lot of my friends have and account there and I was wondering if it's just an image library or is there something more like a *ahem* "community."

Thoughts? Input? :shrug:

I'm a user there, and it's free to sign up and have a basic account. What you can do is post any artwork, be it drawings, paintings, sculpture, etc. People who are also users will comment on it (unless you disable comments). But it is a community... you can be a part of groups with shared interests, and add friends (or "watch" people whose art you're interested in, so whenever they post something new it goes into your messages). Hope that helps! :)
Oh, and there are nekkid pics there, but they are "artistic nudes." Which goes back to yesterday's discussion.

I have a literal shit-ton of stuff (mostly 3D renderings and the occasional badly drawn drunken cartoon) that could easily bring down the on-line property values of such a site. No, really, the non-drunk stuff is pretty good. ;)

It's an online "community" where you can have your own free art gallery. However, it seems marked more and more nowadays by "nekkid pics" and other such things.
