1. No, but I was one post-college. |

Somehow I ended up in that job after I graduated...it just kind of fell into my lap as they were creating a Digital Media Lab at my alma mater, my roommate was the director of the lab, and I was one of about 50 people in the US at the time who knew what webstreaming was.

Top-loading vcrs, reel to reel, Apple IIc computers. I was a geek before being a geek was cool. Ran all the sound for our productions, as well.

Being one of the few people who could effectively operate and troubleshoot a computer, I would get called out of class to fix the server when the real server guy (who was also the football coach, go figure) wasn't there. It helped me devlope a great rapport with the principal, who ended up writing me a $500 dollar check to help start a software company in college. Said company should incorporate in September if all goes according the plan. :D

7. When I was in high school |
|
We had no such thing as an "A/V" tech. The only piece of equipment we ever had was an overhead projector, and there really isn't too many ways of screwing up that.
On the other hand, running a projector is the only thing I don't know how to do. I can run and troubleshoot video projectors, computers, interfaces with video projectors, etc., and more etc.
Since my non-mechanical friend is adept at handing a film projector, however, I think it can't be that difficult if I decided to give it a shot.

But I did theatre design for the school plays, worked in a library, played in the band and was a debater. I was also the president one year of Strategy and Tactics-the only female president to date.
I think I've proven my geek credentials.

One year of team, three of LD. Four years of oratory and foreign extemp, w/ a bit of domestic thrown in when needed.
I was geeky enough to earn scholarships for forensics.

13. I went to state every year. |

I qualified once for nationals in LD but turned it down. I had a trip that I had won already as a youth ambassador that would have been at the same time. The trip was once in a lifetime and I thought I'd have the chance to qualify for natl again. Instead I had a year of bad judging then went to team.
My school didn't do student congress. I always envied those who did-I thought it looked like fun.
Did you do foreign or domestic? I preferred foreign but used to fill in on domestic-wanted that stupid ruby something awful.
And did you have the dorks who used nothing but Squirrel Killers? I used to laugh at them-too easy to beat them.

Bow before the almighty god of the overhead projector!
Not a high school geek either. I perform AV services for a major eastern university.
