Ledger To Play Batman's Joker?
Latino Review is reporting a rumor that Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger is being offered the coveted role of the Joker in the upcoming Batman Begins sequel film.

"We just got word from a very trusted source that the offer last night was officially made to Heath Ledger to star as the Joker in the Batman Begins sequel," the site reported.

The movie will reportedly reintroduce the Caped Crusader's most famous nemesis.

2. I can see that. He might be able to really pull it off.
That's not bad casting.

8. Maybe

I still think Crispin Glover would be better. Heath Ledger is too hunky.

10. Meh
I had to warm up photoshop for work anyway and it was something I could do with one hand while drinking coffee. ;)

Thanks though. I always find a visual aid is helpful in these matters.

4. should be Mark Hamill
IMO.

Hamill's done the Joker's voice in virtually every animated series for years...and he's REALLY good. He should get the chance to actually play the part.

5. I hope they considered him.
But I don't know if he's got the look for the role.

6. I am RIGHT there with you on that
Mark Hamill IS the Joker.

Some choice quotes from Mask of the Phantasm -

Joker: Whoops! Ha! I guess the joke's on me. You're not Batman after all. Looks like there's a new face in Gotham and soon his name will be all over town... to say nothing of his legs, and feet, and spleen, and head...
(the Phantasm leaps out the window just as the bomb explodes)

Joker: DON'T TOUCH ME OLD MAN! - I don't know where you've been.

The Joker: Hello, anybody home? Listen, boopsie, even though you never call and never write, I still got a soft spot for you. So I'm sending you a fun gift, airmail! And there's no use jumping out the window this time, toots...
(Batman looks out the window and sees a toy Joker plane flying in carrying a bomb)
The Joker: The plane of the future is going to make you history!
(Batman throws a Batarang, exploding the bomb outside the window; the blast knocks him back against the wall, and the phone is left dangling)
The Joker: (laughing) Hello? Hello, operator? I believe my party's been... disconnected! HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAA!

7. People, people, people!!!
The hell are they thinking? Here's an easy formula. Get Tim Burton back into the Batman series, have him direct the next one, and who would likely follow for a starring role as the Joker? Johnny Depp!!! If anyone can play over-the-top, it's that man.

12. Too goofy. Too fat. Too old.
Plus, Carrey's already played The Riddler. (badly, I might add)

13. oops forgot about Carrey (did not see that flick)
and as far as Depp goes...I think that man can do ANYTHING.

I guess they think Heath will be a bigger box office than Hamill

19. Consider that Burton's Batman sucked the first time...
I don't see any particular reason to bring him back.

21. Blech...
The Burton Batman's sucked, IMHO.

I never really "got" Batman until Nolan's version.

18. The Joker should be criminally insane. Not a comedian
Modern writers more often depict him as a violent psychopath who murders people with fatal hilarity. In this interpretation, the Joker has been responsible for numerous tragedies in Batman's life, such as the killing of his parents in the 1989 film, the murder of Jason Todd, the second Robin, and the paralysis of Barbara Gordon, the original Batgirl. The Joker also killed Alexander Luthor, Jr., hero of Crisis on Infinite Earths and villain of its sequel Infinite Crisis.<1>
