I had a "nobody dies wishing he'd spent more time at the office" day |
|
I am way, way behind at work. So, I very nearly backed out of a baseball outing for people in my office. I asked myself: "How can I justify blowing off nearly a whole day"?
But... then, after a few other people backed out, I said "what the heck" and snagged a spare ticket. I then swung by my son's preschool on the way to the stadium, picked him up, and had a GREAT afternoon with him at the ballpark (along with the coworkers who didn't back out).
The work is still there. Tomorrow will be a LONG day. But it was so worth it.

In about the 5th inning, I realized that I was living a day I'd always remember. Just some nice, father/son time. If I'd stayed at work to "get caught up" what would that have meant to me in 20 years?
