77. I met Prankster, who hasn't been on DU in many months

at a hot dog stand a couple blocks away in the summer of 2004. In GD, I think it was, I had urged everyone who was going to the John Kerry rally that day on the riverfront to stop by Wynn's Hot Dogs because Wynn's advertised on the local Air America affiliate. Though I was unable to go to the rally that day, I did get hungry for a hot dog, and found myself waiting in line behind somebody who was talking about the Swift Boat liars with Mr. Wynn and who said, "I came here because somebody on Democratic Underground said to buy a hot dog here."


So that's how I met the world traveler Prankster. And I got a free hot dog.

Oh here's the rather boring story remembered more accurately, since it was recounted the day it happened.

My new car is treating me very well.......but the mileage is not what I'd hoped for....yet.

I was pretty amazed myself. And I'm sure there are a good 15-20 or so that I just can't remember because I met them only briefly. I love going to big meetups -- DC last fall was great. NY wasn't as big, but I did get to meet a number of people I hadn't met in DC.

That's it. Last year when I went to the Dem State convention a couple of DUers were talking about meeting there, but none of the ones I spoke with could attend in the end.

As far as I know, no DUers in the Keys besides me. At least I haven't met any in any of the forums. There are plenty of Dems that live here, and I've passed the DU word, but everyone has their own favorite blog spots and other hobbies.
