DUers, I need your help! I have 2 cats...and a visitor who is allergic to them. He got an allergy shot about 3 weeks ago and it worked at first, but now his allergies are getting really bad...especially at night.
He's only going to be here one more night, but I feel awful...he's coughing a lot! As long as we leave the apartment during the day he's fine, so it's obviously the cats. I've tried vaccuuming and leaving windows/doors open but it's really hot here, so that makes everyone uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do that will help him out quickly??

2. Yeah, I think we're going to have to |

Hotels in LA are ridiculously expensive, but I guess it's only for one night.

you already tried with vacuum and windows open. Sounds like the best short solution to me. And one night is affordable I am sure. Sorry that the medicine wore off.

I have insane cat allergies and I've had to sleep in my car rather than in someone's house because I just couldn't breathe at night.
If they don't have any medication on them to help them with asthma or breathing (albuterol, advair, etc) then they should try and antihistimine. If he does have those asthma drugs he should definately use them as directed, but if he has been, then he needs to kick it up a notch. Try a couple of Benedryl. That might get him through the night.
Otherwise if the weather is good enough put him in a cot out back. ;)
It sucks. i've been there. There are places I just can't visit because I end up not being able to breathe. No ammount of vacumming or anything will help at this point. Honestly. I've been places where I can't breathe where they USED to have a cat. There are preventative things you can do, stuff you can spray on your cats etc to make their dander less nasty, but it's just in there at this point.

5. Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. |

I guess we should all be thankful that the shot lasted as long as it did.
I just feel bad...I know it's not really my fault but he's miserable. :(

6. Benadryl might help ease his symptoms |
|
At the least, it'll help him sleep.
