This is my second ID here at DU. I joined with the first one way back in 2001, and even counting my posts on that old ID I am only at 4400 or so posts after 5 years.

I think it's a rule that once you start counting your posts in the thousands you're not allowed to have a life anymore.

That got old. And introducing myself at Meetups was horrible, because nobody knew what a TKulesa was or recognized my name. So I changed it to ThomCat.

There was a brief period where the Admins were allowing people to change their IDs. I jumped at the chance. :)

with the new ID. I think the old ID still exists, and it has the original membership date.

that is before the name change period which was in November 2004, and the name change took away the old one, as now JChild no longer exists having been replaced by Maddy McCall. What you did is more like what Fox Mulder and Miss Honeychurch did, just re-registered with a new name.
The good news is that if you add the 500 posts, then you are over 4,000! :bounce:
