Encounter with a stupid fundy today. |
|
My friend at work, Levi, had a mortgagor on the phone. She was so thankful he was working with them and kept just being overly sweet to him. Then, out of her mouth came the funniest, stupidest thing ever. "I just knew we were going to get someone helpful. Such a nice CHRISTIAN boy." This is funny A)because Levi is gay, B)He was nice and seemed like a good person, so he's automatically a christian, and C)Because he's super nonreligious. The thing that pissed me off at the same time is that they think that only Christians can have morals and treat people nice. I hate that about those hypocrites. Duckie

1. I can't stand that attitude that christian and good person are synonymous |
|
Well, it was really funny coming from my grandmother once, when speaking of my kid's Dad:
"He's a good Christian, he just doesn't know it yet." I didn't have the heart to tell her that dispite his Presbyterian upbringing he's quite happily Wiccan. I don't think she could have handled that.

The idea that only christians can have morals. I do the right thing in my life because it's the right thing to do, for myself and for others and for humankind as a whole - not because I fear the wrath of some omnipotent god (who is quite inexplicably both wrathful and forgiving - never understood that, either).

3. Man, that attitude just sucks. |
|
If someone is a good, decent person, they are a good, decent person, regardless of their religion, or if they even practice a religion or believe in God or another deity at all. Look at all the "Christians" in this country who are hate-mongering evil people. No way would I want to be a Christian in that mold!

I know, they get me down, too.
Those RR heretics are not true Christians. The more we get the word out that we ( I'm Christian too) flatly reject their phony baloney the better.

They're not all stupid, rude, judgmental idiots. I promise. They ARE few and far between, however... Duckie

9. That's definately true. I've got a good firend who's Republican, |
|
which I never understood, because she is incredibly smart for her age. But hey, she's a good person, so I think she's just a liberal in disguise :P

We've learned about about these people, when they're lying, when they're fake. It's easy to tell. Duckie
