3. Kind of looks like the Dad with a moustache.
So many people are plagiarising him for so many stupid things. I wish people would leave him alone.

7. I think the Dad is somewhat based on his own dad
so that makes sense.

6. He lives in Chagrin Falls, Uh-HIGH-AH!
Like a half hour away from me. Well hidden from mainstream view, from what I hear. Like an American Syd Barrett - an adept-level talent who didn't want to be a star.

8. Calvin & Hobbes is my childhood
I remember reading that comic strip at a very young age...I was only in second grade and there was something I immediately loved about it. I haven't taken a peak at the strips in a while but seeing this post made me nostalgic. Maybe I'll pick up that anthology that was recently released...anyone have it?

9. THEE BEST comic strip, ever, for escapism
I have all of the Calvin & Hobbes collections, and once in a while I dig 'em out and use my night time reading time to escape back into that magical world he created.

10. Looks like Calvin's Uncle Max
...a character with a very brief lifespan.

From Wikipedia:

Uncle Max is Calvin's uncle, his father's brother, who resembles his father with a bushy mustache. Max appears in the strip on only one occasion. Watterson found it difficult to write Max's dialogue without referring to Calvin's parents by name, and also felt that Max just didn't fit in the universe of Calvin and Hobbes, so his existence was limited to a few strips.
