Poll question: Best movie sequels?
Going with only seconds in a series. I'm leaving out LOTR, since it was a three part film, not really a sequel, and it bored me beyond tears, anyway. Plus, leaving out movie serieses, like Star Trek, the comic book movies, James Bond.

4. I started to not include it
because that's going to be most people's reactions. But I knew if I did the first post would be "What about Godfather Part II?"

I thought maybe Clerks II would siphon some votes away from it.

5. godfather part ii is so good I almost don't consider it a sequel
But, yes, I'm sure you're right about the expected response :)

Ah, Clerks II ... I really hope I won't hate it, but I'm far from confident

10. Agreed. DeNiro in a sequel, for starters.
Thrat Lower East Side stuff was great film making.

2. Aliens edges out The Godfather Part II.
While The Godfather Part II was fantastic and included historical underpinnings intermingled with the future, Aliens more brilliantly extrapolated into the future and wins running away in its un-Earthly sci-fi horror genre.

:)

3. Wow.
I was going to choose Toy Story II, but after that analogy, I feel unworthy.

6. if the question were "improvement over the original," I would agree
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 01:50 AM by fishwax
because I enjoyed Aliens much more than the original Alien. I only enjoyed Godfather Part II a little bit more than the original Godfather, but that becomes significant when you consider that the original Godfather is the second best film of all time :)

Much better than Star Trek: The Motionless Picture. :-)

9. Babe 2: Pig in the City
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 10:09 AM by Monkey see Monkey Do
It takes the original setup and radically shifts it in tone and style to an incredibly intelligent, richly (albeit often blackly) comic, definitely-not-for-under-5's, Orwellian fable.

One of the best and most underrated films of the 90s and vastly superior to the original (even though Babe is truly a wonderful and magical film).
