what fine state gets the honor of claiming you as a native son?

Btw, while I was in hs my father considered a job at your current hometown's local U. Maybe he just preferred a slightly cooler climate - and basketball, to football  ;-)

24. I was born in Greece.
Although I became a US Citizen at age 8. Anticipating your next questions, no I haven't been back since I left at 2, and I was adopted by an American couple, so I wasn't "raised Greek" and sadly don't speak the language.

Anything else you want to know? :D

28. Oh, one day...one day...
I actually did some research, and as long as I travel on my US Passport, I'll be safe from military service. ;)

Now...if I ever go claim dual citizenship (should, say, life in the US worsen appreciably), then I should probably stay out of Greece for long periods of time - although with an EU member nation passport, I can settle in any EU country for a while - 6 months, I think).

30. my roots - at least the ones that we have any connections with -
are just outside of the EU. But given that I wouldn't qualify for dual citizenship, the scenario isn't quite the same. While I was there, I was reading a lot about 'the resistance' under German occupation ... very inspiring. Also a big reminder that as bad as bushco is - we are nowhere close to those times. Oh - and cause it feels obligatory to say: Vidken (sp) Quisling was a trecherous, vile human being. (I feel better now!)

you are indeed a treacherous, vile human being. Ugh...

I'd like to make that trip. My parents went up that way and were very impressed with Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia.

Not sure which was better - the incredible scenery (we were in several different regions - very different scenery - but all astounding in beauty), or the feeling of connectedness in spending time with family that is only one generation removed.

we only saw the Oslo graffitti because we took the train into the city.

Having lived in a number of US cities, there were no signs of slums/urban decay/poverty as I have known and seen it in some of our cities.

40. You're welcome. That was just on the other night...priceless! LOL!
After seeing his interview with Bill O'Reilly, I became pretty much convinced that Letterman is one of us... He always practically swooned over Bill Clinton, but his coverage of the Cheney shooting incident was what really convinced me. This clip is arguably my favorite, ever...:bounce:

41. I LOVED the clip he ran where W is speaking before a hand-picked audience
and some kid is standing right behind him and falling asleep through the whole speech.

Then there were the WH theatrics around the clip (they called CNN while they were on the air with a repeat of the clip to say it was doctored - then CNN gets called on getting called by the WH and changing their on-air story while on the air... and finally the bushies have to admit that the clip was real and not doctored.) Whole thing made them look so stupid as so much energy (and tax payer dollars) was spent on such a trivial thing.

42. You must mean this one, LOL!
I loved that one, too... Letterman is definitely on a roll.:D

But I missed the CNN theatrics over it. I'm surprised that they'd even show it... Their coverage of the current Middle East crisis is so biased that Tony Harris was arguing, the other day, about "the view on the ground" with some poor American woman pinned down by bombs in Lebanon. This White House can't even admit that some sleepy kid isn't enthralled with Bush*, as if it matters...:-(
