Nothing gets my attention like the sound of breaking glass
So I was in the kitchen making the kids lunch, and my wife was carrying things up ther stairs to her apartment, going up and down the stairs. So then I hear the sound of breaking glass, and shards of said glass bouncing down the stairs. Scared the crap out of me, so I opened the door and went to run upstairs, when I see my wife standing in front of the window at the landing half-way up frozen in place, her hand held out, and the window in front of her shattered and glass all over the floor. The first thing I did was ask her if she was okay, and check her for cuts, bleeding, etc. Nothing. She was fine, just freaked out. So here is what apparently happenned...

She was waloking down the stairs and a large fly was buzzing around, and she swatted it while walking down the stairs, and somehow misjudges the distance between herself and the window, and so she put her hand right thru the glass pane, jagged pieces falling out onto the floor, and bouncing and breaking as gravity pushed them down the stairs.

and not a cut, scratch or mark on her hand. How the fuck can that happen? Damn, she is lucky. I had visions of urgent care, blood, stitches and shock, all in a 5 second span of hearing the glass and seeing her on the stairs.

Damn that was scary...

:scared:

2. Actually, gravity is an attractive force, so it pulls - not pushes.
But, scientific precision mentality aside, HOLY SHIT!

I'm glad she wasn't hurt! It is unusual for her not to be cut, though certainly not statistically impossible; especially if she hit it parallel to the plane of the surface.

Why does she have her own apartment?

3. She has her own place
because we are separated.

We decided to move from our house to a duplex, and live upstairs / downstairs because of the kids.

So far, it's working out pretty well.

4. "one of the greatest benefactors of all lifekind ...
"So he sat by a window and designed and designed and designed, but inevitably got a little distracted by things and by the time the invaders were practically in orbit around them, had come up with a remarkable breed of superfly that could, unaided, figure out how to fly through the open half of a half open window, and also an off switch for children. Celebrations of these remarkable acheivements seemed doomed to be short-lived because disaster was imminent as the alien ships were landing. But, astoundingly, the fearsome invaders who, like most warlike races were only on a rampage because they couldn't cope with things at home, were stunned by Versenwald's extraordinary breakthroughs, joined in the celebrations and were instantly prevailed upon to sign a wide-ranging series of trading agreements and set up a program of cultural exchanges. And, in an astonishing reversal of normal practice in the conduct of such matters, everybody concerned lived happily ever after."
So Long and thanks for all the fish
