However, that "free" sex generally comes with the price tag of doing his laundry, cooking him meals, and shopping for a birthday present for his mother. I can see that a lot of women out there might like the opportunity to avoid paying the domestic price for sex and would rather just pony up a couple of hundred dollars instead, get the candles and the bubble bath and champagne without all the drudgery attached to it.

especially in this era of the (not, always but sometimes) independant woman. I think women pay for sex for the same reason that most men do and it's not a matter of desperation. In my business (internet porn) there's a saying: "Women don't buy porn."

The thing is, they do buy it, but they buy it when it comes wrapped in a nice portal site with articles, email, chat, tangible goods n stuff.

What I've noticed is that most adult webmasters won't even try to appeal to female surfers. I've also seen male strip clubs -with a female clientele- get shut out of the game by their male-centered counterparts.

My mom (well over 50 but still a looker) got solicited by a pimp for gigolos in Cairo. He asked her if she wanted to meet a "handsome, strong young man" that he knew. She asked around a bit and found out that apparently, yes, lots of older women go for this. Busloads of them. Mostly from Europe, in Egypt's case.

It's usually not a straight cash-for-sex deal, the economics of it is more in the form of expensive dinners and trips and lavish gifts (high-end watches, gold, cars, etc.) And the guy does function as an "escort" as well as just the sex thing.

I agree that if you are over 50 you do become invisible to men, but by then you care a whole lot less about sex in general, too. You are free to travel, you have cool grandchildren, and chasing after sex is what those boring old men do -- it becomes almost irritating that men are still pussy hounds at that age, when you hope they might turn their energies toward something a bit more productive. But that's the way men are wired, I guess. But most women I know are pretty impatient and exasperated with that aspect of the men they know.

social implications of her planned enterprise interesting. There really is such a double standard between men and women when it comes to paid sex. And with the playing field being leveled in other arenas, this one seems ripe for change. Also, the glorification of pimping is a very bizarre phenomenon. And I don't think madams enjoy quite the same "street" glory. Nevertheless, in her own way, Heidi is a trailblazer. I do think she is nutty. But she is no snitch. She could have ratted out her clients and probablyl walked but did not.
