Any DUers fans of Southside Johnny? |
|
was listening to "Better Days" this morning.
seemed appropriate at the time.
They're a glorified bar band, but they'er a damn good bar band. I would love to be a little drunk, with that old girlfriend who nearly wrecked my life, listening to Southside Johnny in a hot, smokey bar right now.

(Southside Johnny) girlfriend. She went with him in high school and knew Bruce Springsteen, too. We used to cruise up and down the shore, from Belmar to Long Branch and she would always talk about John and the days at the Stone Pony. I think she was still seriously hung up on him, even though John had moved on and was married...
Asbury Park in those days (this was the late 70's when we hung out) was still fun. Convention Hall was still open with various attractions and the miniature golf was fun!
One New Year's Eve, we took a tape recorder and some candles down to the beach in Belmar where we froze our butts off and welcomed in the New Year with Southside Johnny tapes.
I still have albums and love them to death!

... that website kicks ass! i'll go exploring there when i have a few minutes to myself...
i can't help this: G-L-O-R-I-Ayyy. G-L-O-R-I-Aaaayyyy.... She make me feel all right!
(I refer here, of course, to the version by THEM, with a very young Van Morrison singing lead, not the shoddy version released by the hack band Shadows of Knight almost simultaneously.

you make me wanna cry. Remember Asbury Park when it was "the" place to go-every weekend. It was so beautiful, so many things to do. We still drive down there a lot and hope and pray that things there will start to get better. It is, actually, but I think I just long for it to be the way it was. Oh, yeah-the original purpose of this thread: I love Southside Johnny.
