Poll question: From freecycle -- baby clothes -- what would you do? |
|
I was perusing my local Freecycle list and found the following (which I'm not going to claim, as I am not expecting a baby anytime soon):
OFFER: BAG OF 0-3 MONTH BOYS CLOTHES THESE ARE MOSTLY FALL/WINTER CLOTHES. WE'RE EXPECTING A GIRL SO WE DON'T NEED THE BOYS CLOTHES ANYMORE! LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE INTERESTED AND WHEN YOU CAN PICK UP. THANKS!
(caps in original, sorry)
So, if you had a bunch of newborn boys' clothes but the ultrasound showed indoor plumbing, what would you do?

who cares if they are boy or girl clothes. They are baby clothes and babies barf, crap and pee constantly at that age, so the more clothes you have to change them into, the better. My daughter wore her brother's hand me downs for the whole first year.

My godson was, according to the ultrasound, supposed to be my goddaughter. So my soon-to-be-a-mom friend bought a ton of girl-baby clothes. The ultrasound was wrong, and I wound up taking all those girl-baby clothes and giving them to another friend who had an actual daughter - great for them, but a huge expense for my godson's parents. Those things CAN be wrong, it's foolish to shop for or discard anything based on test results, one can get bitten on the ass that way. You can always buy baby clothes after they're born, there's time before they need much more than blankets and diapers.

3. The US seems to be about the only country |
|
that color codes its babies by gender. In Europe the baby shops feature bright colors and patterns for both. Even the bassinets were bright and cheery. Except, of course, for that one done in leather. (real bassinet, btw, tan leather)

4. If it came out a girl I'd hot glue or sew bows and lace on them. |
|
They'd still be cute but unique.
My daughter had some boy clothes from a few friends(just in case) and that's what I did.

"Oh, God, I couldn't possibly be seen with my NEW PRECIOUS BABY! MY PRECIOUS BABY! I FUCKED! NOW I HAVE A BABY! THAT'S PRECIOUS!!!!!! PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in boys clothes if she's a PRECIOUSLITTLEGIRLOHMYGODTHATWOULDBEAWFUL IWOULDN'TBESINGLEDOUTASTHEMOSTIMPORTANTWOMANEVERBECAUSEIMANAGEDTOBREED SHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTION SHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTION SHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTION SHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTIONSHOWMEATTENTION!"
Hope she gives it all away, then ends up with a boy and enjoys the bitter disappointment of having to spend more money to get new gender-specific clothes to advertise her sexual activity and need for self-glorifcation and attention.
On edit: and RevCheesehead called me a curmudheon. :eyes:

It's only the parents who care! It's about vanity.

8. Yes, use them in good health |
|
then, when she's big enough in two weeks' time, pass the clothes on to somebody else who can use them.
Methinks this is just a good excuse for the momma to go shopping ..... again.

14. What an absurd "problem" |
|
Hasn't this dingy woman ever worn a pair of jeans or a men's t-shirt? What possible difference is it going to make to an infant what the hell it wears? It's just going to puke all over the damn things anyway. :eyes:
