I found another Chick Tract on my car today.

This has been the third or fourth one in the past two years of parking at the train station. I have a Darwin-fish on my car, so I suppose someone is trying to save my soul or something.

I didn't read it. Something about going to hell, I'd guess.

I figured it was just a promo or a commercial for the actual video but it's the whole thing - actually, two on one DVD and they're long. I haven't watched them in their entirety yet and I have no idea who may have left them - they were on my car when I got out of work one day. Pretty neat.

up almost as many off the ground as I handed out, if I was doing it "live."

I never actually got any eyes rolled at me, but neither did anyone want to hear my spiel, either.

I think they turn people off. I have seen them at AA meetings and in church foyers. Ignored at the AA meetings and greedily snatched up at the churches: "Oh, this one is PERFECT for Sue at work."

Of course, the first thing is that the Bible is the literal and infallible word of God. How do we know? The Bible says so!

But look at this tract called Doom Town. It quotes a speaker at a gay rights rally. This isn't just Chick writing what some guy says in his cartoon; it's a quote, and he cites a source:

"If research money for AIDS is not coming at a certain level by a certain date, all gay males should give blood. Whatever is required to get national attention is valid. If that includes blood terrorism, so be it."

Almost sounds like something ACT UP might've said in the early days. But Chick's source is "Jeremiah Films." Google Jeremiah Films and you find a company that makes "Christian" propaganda and "scare 'em to Jesus" films.

Either he actually thinks that quoting a film made by people on HIS side is valid, or he figures he's just preaching to a bunch of weak-minded saps who will fall for anything.

Either way it's obscene. HE is obscene.

I just don't see anybody using Chick Tracts as being remotely a nice person/Good Christian. Chick Tracts are the most vicious, spiteful things made for hateful fundies. I'm polite to Seventh Day Adventists and other proselytizers, but I wouldn't be to anybody handing me a Chick Tract.
