We want to change providers as we only have cable Interent now. How do you rate either of these services?

1. I had WOW
Had to change when I moved and they don't cover this area. I was very happy with them for over 5 years.

3. Is that included in the "basic" package?
We don't want any movie or sports deals. Just the basics like Comedy Central , Discovery and Cartoon Network.

5. I think so; we don't have any of the movie packages or sports stuff
We do get Comedy Central, Discovery, A&E, History Channel, 'toons, more shopping channels than you can shake a stick at (you can create your own lists of channels so you can skip right on by that shit) Animal Planet (Meerkat Manor!) and other good stuff. None of the "premium" stuff like Starz or HBO or anything.

4. Nope...
... when we got rid of Comcast cable TV, we also got rid of Comcast internet. We now have Verizon DSL and even though it's rated at a slower speed than cable's "top" speed... it's functionally faster and much more reliable.

Our satellite TV is from DirecTV... and even though we occasionally lose the satellite signal during HEAVY downpours... that's STILL a better record than Comcast had with their CONSTANT outages (and fuzzy snowy pictures).

The only time I've ever used satellite internet is at a couple of the RV campgrounds we visit. It seems reliable enough... our biggest problem with that was establishing a good connection to the campground's wireless router (but that's a router problem, not a satellite problem).

Good luck!!
