Poll question: Good Tuesday Morning, Crew!

Well, here comes another day, crew! :bounce:

Tuesday has been good, sort of. For those in on the Naomi saga (which may or may not be her real name ;)) did not see her today but I have four opportunities left with a slim and random chance in each. For those not in on the Naomi saga.... hey look! A shiny thing! :bounce: Just kidding, I suspect you have no wish to see me impersonate your media. :)

So, how are you all today? Ready for another day? :bounce: Who is going to that DU meetup I am hearing so much about? :) 'fess up! :D

The song of the day is "Gaudete" - By 'Traditional' (What a strange name) (sung in latin).

And honestly, is this too wierd a song of the day? If so, the other song of the day is 'Peace on Earth' by U2. :yoiks:

2. Good morning R_A
I keep my fingers crossed that you will meet your Naomi. Not that it is easy to type with crossed fingers but what am I not doing for such a cute Australian boy

:loveya:

My day started normal. It is still hot, my arms keep getting clued to my desk and I feel all sticky. It will get worse in the afternoon. Other than that I sit on my computer, correcting catalog entries and in between checking out DU. Or was it the other way around?

I am IN Germany. We have that hot weather since begin of June. First we thought, OK, the weather gods like soccer and that is why we had such gorgeous weather during the World Cup. But it didn't stop after that ... no it stayed hot and some days humid ...

Still hot there? Here too, it's 70 already with 91% humidity and it's supposed to get up to around 90. I feel hot already. But we're supposed to get scattered thunderstorms, so that's good, at least the rain part, we really need it. Everything is so dry and crackly.

Yes, still hot here. We had a nice thunderstorm Saturday evening and more rain Sunday but that just added to the humidity. Not as high as yours though.

I have not seen Naomi, and unfortunately I have not seen Sarah either. :-(

I'm afraid I'm not going to the DU meetup. I am, however, going to the Melissa Etheridge concert next weekend. :woohoo:

I'll cast a vote for "Peace On Earth" as the song of the day, only because I've never EVER heard of Gaudete.

9. Good Morning Buffy!
I thought the choice might be a tad obscure... thus the poll!

Great to hear you are getting out and about... I hear sleeping strange hours can crimp a social life.

Who is Sarah?

And here are the lyrics and a translation from Gaudete: (I recommend skimming)

Gaudete, gaudete Christos est natus
Ex Maria virginae, gaudete.

Tempus ad est gratiae hoc quod optabamus,
Carmina laetitiae devote redamus.

Gaudete, gaudete Christos est natus
Ex Maria virginae, gaudete.

Deus homo factus est naturam erante,
Mundus renovatus est a Christo regnante.

Gaudete, gaudete Christos est natus
Ex Maria virginae, gaudete.

Ezecheelis porta clausa per transitor
Unde lux est orta sallus invenitor.

Gaudete, gaudete Christos est natus
Ex Maria virginae, gaudete.

Ergo nostra contio psallat jam in lustro,
Benedicat domino sallas regi nostro.

Gaudete, gaudete Christos est natus
Ex Maria virginae, gaudete.

TRANSLATION:

Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is born of the Virgin Mary; Rejoice!

The time of grace has come for which we have prayed;
Let us devoutly sing songs of joy.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is born of the Virgin Mary; Rejoice!

God is made man, while nature wonders;
he world is renewed by Christ the King.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is born of the Virgin Mary; Rejoice!

The closed gate of Ezekiel has been passed through;
From where the light has risen (the East), salvation is found.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is born of the Virgin Mary; Rejoice!

Therefore, let our assembly sing praises now at this time of purification;
Let it bless the Lord: greetings to our King.

Strange choice for an atheist, I know, but it sounds good. :)

Anyway, 'interesting song choice'? You should see what I am planning for tomorrow! :)

I am not sure if 'nice' is the right word, but it a good spiritual song. (I like mucking around with emotions, you see, for one, and two I attempt to understand the world and all its people, so I needs must know spiritual experience when I see it)

I work 7p-7a (1900-0700) in the emergency room at the local county hospital. I work Monday-Thursday and have my week-ends off. Very rare in this business.

Just a fleeting visit here as I'm off to Oxford to meet a couple of chums to drink large amounts of alcohol - sorry catch up with old times ;)

I don't think that's it's wierd at all - I'm guessing that it's the Introit for the 3rd Sunday in Advent

Gaudete in Domino semper: iterum dico gaudete: Modestia vestra nota sit omnibus hominibus; Dominus enim prope est: nihil solliciti sitis: sed in omni oratione petitiones vestræ innotescant apud Deum. Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam: avertisti captivitatem Jacob. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in sæcula sæculorum. Amen

Sorry for the display of liturgical geekery.

I got worried because he didn't answer my email and hadn't called, so I called him and he was already on his way! He came home because he couldn't spend one more day away from me. :loveya: And he managed to get his boss to see his side of it, at least for now. He has to go back in a few weeks b/c his teammate will be out. That's OK. I think he'll still be able to come back for our anniversary. :bounce:

43. I would have had my first heart attack when he didn't call
before bedtime. Actually, I would have been quite frantic, as he ALWAYS calls before he goes to bed! And since much of the drive is through mountains, I can't always get through to him on his cell phone. As it was, I tried to reach him when he was about 20 minutes away and couldn't get him. That had me a little worried.

Yes, he is a sweetheart! :loveya: It's kind of cool that he can't stand to be away from me for so long. I sure didn't expect that for some reason.

So, maybe he'll be here when you come! :bounce: Are we down to 6 weeks yet? Have you heard from Miss Joani?

I'm just so excited! :bounce: Oh, yeah, harleydad didn't ask for my shopping list before he started out yesterday, so we don't have any key limes. I'll have to give him a list ahead of time next time.

52. I'll fly into Newark
over Denver

Apropos key limes. That reminds me of baking me another pie (still have enough limes left) so that I can eat more than two slices  I tell ya, that pie was really really yummy. Half frozen. It reminded me again why I love key lime pie so much.

Yes, do tell harleydad to buy real key limes so you have them when I come.

58. Newark is down the road from my sister
and a little farther away from my brother. They both live in NJ.

Are you able to get key limes? It takes a pile of them to make a pie, but they sure are good! One of my neighbors had a key lime tree, so we had more than we needed. (I grew Persian limes for some reason.) You can eat more than two slices? It's pretty rich, if you ask me! I have all I can do to get one slice down. We'll make two pies when you come, especially if we're going to have extra people. :P

I'll tell him. :D As a matter of fact, I'll email him right now since he's upstairs and I'm downstairs.

and I only needed 3 limes to get the juice for the pie. I bought 8 :wow:

It is rich and I don't mean to eat more than two slices in one dish so to speak. But in the morning one, one for lunch, one for desert in the evening  What I ment was that I gave neweurope the left over slices as I have enough limes at home to make me a new pie.

So did you email him? Or do you talk via YM?

Plans? Dunno. Harleydad drove home unexpectedly last night, so my whole schedule is messed up ... but in a good way. :bounce: I was going to have lunch with harleykid and maybe stop at the farmer's market for some tomatoes and Georgia peaches. Still might do that so I don't disturb harleydad. (He is working while he's here, after all.)

So what's the story with Naomi?

Glad you are not sick, and sounding pretty happy.

Mmmmmm, peaches. Sounds good, alright!

The Naomi story? The short, short version is that I know a girl we got to be good friends & would meet in the classes we had in common, was going to try to take it further but then her father became ill so she stopped going to uni and I have not seen her since. Semester ended. There is a chance I will get to see her again this semester.

She's the only reason I can no longer count the amount of hugs I have got on one hand. :)

Hope the day goes well!

Breakfast for harleydad? I can see that. Goes to make toast, and says "What? I have no bread to eat" and you respond "eat cake" and instead of it working out like Mary Antionette he actually does eat cake. :) That is my prediction anyway.

Sheesh, I left work early last Monday and Thursday and never made it in on Friday. Wish I could take another day off. Just going to have to tough it out, but I do miss working out, that's the hard part. But I'm afraid if I start up b/4 I'm feeling better, I'll get another relapse. Silly I know, but that's the way I feel.

99. Hello, MissHoneychurch!
I hope you had a more stimulating weekend than I did! I think I have been cheating the sleep gods so they smote me on Saturday and I was very lazy. Then late in the day, I got inspired and cleaned off the shelves in the laundry closet. We agreed that we were never ever going to use the complicated rotisserie-kabob thing someone gave us and that got us off and running. When the mood to get rid of things strikes, I try to run with it as far as it will carry me. We took a load of things to Diversity Thrift, a store that accepts everything and sells it to raise money for gay youth counseling and activities. Then I went swimming and made groceries and rewarded ourselves with margaritas and burritos at Bandito's restaurant.

Then laziness returned for the rest of the weekend. I am watching the old Avengers series on VHS and enjoying it very much--one episode every couple of days. I don't watch very much real-time television anymore.

Other interesting thing I did: Sunday a week ago some Mormons came to the door and I talked with them for a good while trying to understand them, not to confront them but see what makes them tick. They wanted to come back this past Sunday and I said okay. I was very honest with them that I was not a good candidate for their ministry. It was interesting to me to set cynicism aside, but not my skepticism and to really talk honestly and respectfully with them. It was really very nice. (And no, I didn't become a Mormon.)

We are coming to Amsterdam in October.

105. Can't say my weekend was more exciting
Saturday I cleaned my bathroom and kitchen. Went groceries shopping. Once the kitchen was clean I messed it up again by making a coleslaw for Sunday evening. I was invited over to neweurope's place for a BBQ. Saturday afternoon I watchen the Tour de France. Otherwise I slept and read.
Sunday I made a (Key) Lime Pie for the evening and slept the rest of the day till it was time to get dressed and go over to neweurope. I was at her place till midnight. We had a nice BBQ and salads. And my pie as desert. She "ordered" another one when I am invited to her b-day party in August. Guess she liked the pie :)

You are coming to Amsterdam in October? Maybe we can find a date to meet then also. We can talk about it when I visit you with Joani in September :D

Yes, strange song-of-the day, but I'm not complaining although I've never heard of it and wondering how ever I can listen to it. In Latin huh? Interesting. There's some Catholic Churches around here that still say mass in Latin from time to time. Mostly old people go, they remember it from their youth. But it's kinda neat anyway.

106. I almost called you on my way back from Florida.

You are going to run into me in real life. I've missed you too!

I really think I'll drive down to Fort Lauderdale again next week. My little car is at the mechanic now. It's getting the valve-cover gasket replaced, 4 new tires and an alignment. I called earlier this morning to ask that everything be in tip-top shape for a 3,000 drive. I wasn't able to find an affordable winter rental in the Keys so I'll need to look a bit more north. I intend to stay within 100 miles of Lauderdale but I don't fancy city life. I'll see what's available in-land.

I'm dropping the truck off tomorrow for new tires and an alignment plus anything that I may have missed. MissHoneychurch and I will be in the truck and heading your way next month.

We got through the installation of the central air and have put the house back together. I'm really looking forward to seeing you again and meeting MissHoneychurch face to face. (I almost got to meet Clintmax's Greekspeak, but it turned into a near miss. I was disappointed, but I did get to talk to both of them by phone.)

We will be in Pennsylvania September 6-10 but we are around the rest of the time and eager to entertain you! :bounce:

I hope the truck didn't need too much. You're smart to take care of all that at the beginning of the trip.

The truck goes in tomorrow when I pick up my little 4 cylinder Tracker. If I drive down next week I'll take the Tracker (it'll be fun and cost 1/2 as much to drive) even though I'd rather ride my Trike x( it's hurricane season and I don't want to be blown away.

I'll catch up with you again soon. We've got so much to talk about.
