I need some techinical mouse-help with my laptop. |
|
I got a new mouse, a MS wireless 6000 for my laptop. It plugs into the USD port instead of the serial(?) port. I've notice a couple of things:
1. My touchpad still works while the mouse is operational. That is pretty much okay, and I figure it is so becasue the other port isn't being used. But how would I change it "mouse only" if I wanted to?
2. More importantly, if I am typing in a dialogue box and typing and my mouse cursor is in it also, and I stop to think a moment, the typing cursor defaults to where the mouse cursor is, so when I start typing again, I have misplaced text. How do I fix that?
Thank you very much. I've gone through some menu items, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

1. You may not have an option |
|
On some laptops disabling the touchpad is not an option. I used to work for an HP/Compaq manufacturer and have asked the same thing.
Concerning the cursor jumping on you, are you sure you are not accidentally tapping the touchpad with your thumb or something? It would easily explain why the cursor would suddenly jump to where the mouse pointer was.

2. Thanks. That's a possibility. I've tried to rig the serial port with |
|
a dead mouse plug-in, but that isn't working, I suppose because it isn't an activated device.
I'll have to make do, I suppose.
