I had to pay $170 for a new tie rod yesterday. Ask why I'm happy about it |

The tie rod broke while I was turning around in a parking lot about about 2 miles per hour. About 80% of my hour-long commute is on I-79 @ about 70mph. Judging by the jolt my car experienced, it would have been a real catastrophe it the break had occurred at full speed. Best-case scenario is that I'd have gone off the road. Worst case, I suppose, is that I'd have spun out or flipped in traffic at speed.
Either way, I'd have to call myself lucky that it happened when and where it did.

it's a lot better than having your steering go out at 70 miles an hour on the freeway?
