Poll question: Poll: How long will it be before we no longer need actors for films... |

Because we can accurately, 100% simulate 2 dimensional reality within a computer? Perhaps one day, studios will buy the rights to motion and audio capture the millions of possible things a real actor could do or say, and they can create COUNTLESS projects, and the actor never has to gets older, never needs insurance, and yet he/she is free to be famous and wreck their car on Mullholland Drive.
Of course, superstars will make a mint and retire, but anyone coming up, like a young commercial or soap actors will be screwed, and you can totally forget about extras.
The acting profession(at least as we know it) might cease to exist.
I was watching the "making-of" shorts for Harry Potter IV and I was AMAZED at how much BG scenery and landscape had been green-screened in. It was only a year or so ago that Sin City was heralded as a new direction because so many of the sets were cg.

1. I think we'll run out of ideas for movies before getting rid of actors |
|
By run out of ideas I mean for the 3-4 big studio releases per week.
