Soccer, the game of peace: "Football ref stoned by fans"
<http://english.vietnamnet.vn/sports/2006/07/594928/>

"VietNamNet – A referee was attacked by fans during a match between Dong Tam – Long An and Hoang Anh Gia Lai clubs in Long An Stadium in Long An Province, the home of Dong Tam – Long An club.

As their team looked increasingly certain to lose the match, Long An audience threw bricks and stones at the referees. Referee assistant Chau Duc Thanh, was wounded seriously after being struck in the head by a stone in the 78th minute. The wound required several stitches

Referee Hoang Ngoc Tuan stopped the match for ten minutes to take Thanh from the field. Doctors at the field stitched the wound, and Thanh saw the game out with his head bandaged.

Fearing tension would rise at the match, organizers had arranged a team of riot police inside the stadium. However, the attacks still occurred."
