27. They did that to us, and then tried to "prove" to us that we had used
the account in the last month... and then tried to show us how well their product would work with our broadband connection... :grr: They finished with "You'll be back..." Assholes.

25. Me Three - Paid Them Off and Canceled this month
I couldn't even call them, I had to have my wife do it. They screwed me thirty different ways, including adding a $1000.00 "Accounting Error" which didn't happen (they had credited my account for a previous problem, and then took it back) the last time I paid off the card, before I coudl cancel. This time we were able to get rid of it.

Same thing as matcom. High interest. Paid it off regularly. I think they wouldn't drop my interest rate because they knew they were my first card. Fuck em. I'm canceled and done with them. Soon enough I'll have no credit card debt anymore and be free of my bonds.

5. My brother..
... got a letter from Citibank. He is in one of those "consumer consolidation" plans (I can't think of the proper name, but a company manages his payments to the 3 credit cards he owes money to.

The letter told him that they were dropping him from the program, raising his interest rate, and that they would be reporting him to the credit reporting agencies.

The letter didn't say why. He called the consumer credit folks, and they insisted that they had made the payment online. He pulled up his account and sure enough, everything looked perfect.

He finally contacted a rep at Citibank. They pulled up his records and said "I don't see anything here, I have no idea why you got that letter. You'll just have to re-apply for the program etc. etc. etc."

Banks just suck. If I could figure out how to do no business with them, I would dump them tomorrow.

6. My bank has a really nice overdraft courtesy policy.
I can have $0 in my account, go to an ATM and pull out up to $700.00. As long as I put the money back into the account within 34 days, the price I pay for the privilege is $25.00.

:)

31. That is *not* "nice"; that is an APR of over 38%

assuming that you borrow the full $700. I am sure that your bank is delighted whenever their customers use this facility.

20. COMMERCIAL banks suck. CREDIT UNIONS are awesome and wonderful.
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 06:35 AM by radwriter0555
My last conversation with my credit union 2 weeks ago:

Hi, this is radwriter, can you hear me all right? I'm calling from France.

Hi Radwriter, this is Roberta, I can hear you fine, how are you today?

I'm fine, Roberta! Thanks, how are you?

I'm very well thank you, how can I help you today?

Thanks, I need to talk to someone about closing out X money market account and moving that money to X account... Is Diana available?

I'm sorry, Diana is (somewhere else) at the moment, but I'd be happy to do that for you, what's your member number and date of birth?

I gave Roberta those 2 little details, and my transaction was complete within the next 30 seconds.

My credit union KNOWS me, knows I live here, and takes really great care of me. I love them!!!!!

Find a local one, it will be the best thing you could ever do for your finances.

21. You wanna know what's sad..
.... I did all my personal banking (not credit cards, but checking) through a local credit union.

They sent me some wonderful news about a year ago. They had decided to become a Federally chartered Savings and Loan. They needed my vote, they had to get the membership to approve.

Now, my wife, my ex and I all thought the same way. "If I'd wanted to use an S&L, there are 50 choices around here. Why would I want you guys to become an S&L?".

I was sure the vote would not pass, and we all sent in "no" votes. But guess what, the vote did pass and now I'm banking with an S&L instead of a credit union.

Sometimes, you just can't win. :(

22. That's just awful. You know that eventually that the CUs will get
bought out slowly, one by one.

As you just saw, the savings and loan bought out the CU, and eventually the savings and loan will get bought out by Bank of America.

I saw that coming a while ago... how sad.

Ick.

8. Make sure you request and receive a letter that the account is closed
Closed two account, one in 1996, another in 1999. Even received the account closed letter from one.

Recent credit report showed BOTH those accounts as open and active! Nothing on them, no money due, but the fuckers will keep you on the roster, so to speak, as long as they can get away with it.

I now have, and show on my credit report, both those accounts closed. And, I have the letters.

They would say it was closed, but when I ran my credit report, it would still be listed as open. They suck. Worse than MBNA.

23. Chase Bank Declared Me DEAD!
They got my accounts when Bank One "became" chase bank and a few days later I found all access to my accounts was locked.

Turned out someone flagged me as deceased in their system. It took me two weeks to get this shit straitened out. When I visited the bank branch to prove to them I was alive, they used the opportunity to pitch me on refinancing.

Fuck Chase Bank!

29. Capital One makes my blood boil
I paid them off and called them up, wanting to get a lower rate. The rep told me they couldn't do that, but that they were sending out checks to people with a 5.6% interest rate for big purchases. I said OK, fine. That sounds good. The rep said it would take ten days to receive them. That was a month and a half ago.

I am still waiting. The woman totally lied to me on the phone. Screw them. I am going to close it.
