Where should TXLib, KCDem and kids go for Christmas?
I will be off from 20 Dec 2003 through 4 Jan 2004; two full weeks.

I've got no idea what to do with all that time.

We live in Houston TX, and our requirements are that any place we go be within 8 hrs' driving time.

1. Well as I recall from my time spent living in Houston.....
there are only 2 places worth visiting that are within 8 hours driving distance.

Austin & New Orleans.

2. Well,
y'all could always come visit the gang in Austin. Or you could go to New Orleans. Or you could visit the beach - go to South Padre or something. Or you could go visit the Valley - maybe make a little trip to Mexico.

4. Paris is only 8 hours away
by plane -- Paris, Texas is closer, of course, but who would want to go there.

5. Stay home. Rent a bunch of movies. Put your feet up.
Sit on your ass for two days straight.

Take KC out on a real date.

11. The Santa Ana refuge is gorgeous!
They offer canoe trips down the Rio Grande. Laguna Atascosa is another fine choice, as is the Palm Forest outside of Brownsville. These are all gorgeous natural areas and they are all in South Texas within 50 miles of each other. If I had my scanner hooked up, I could show you some of the pictures I took while I was there last Feb.
