3. Description:
Jainism | Jain"ism |
n.
The heterodox Hindu religion, founded in the 6th century as a
revolt against Hinduism; its most striking features are the
exaltation of saints or holy mortals, called jins, above the
ordinary Hindu gods, and the denial of a supreme being and of
the divine origin and infallibility of the Vedas. Also, the
sect comprising those adhering to Jainism. Jainism believes
in immortality and the transmigration of the soul. It is
intermediate between Brahmanism and Buddhism, having some
things in common with each.

5. And....

Jains can't kill anything. They wear masks to keep themselves from killing bugs, as well as special shoes that have spikes on the bottom to minimize damage to any bugs on the ground.

Also they can't eat roots, and they can only harvest a plant, not kill it outright.

6. Hadn't heard of the shoes. I heard they would sweep
in front of them as they walked to clear any bugs, etc out of the way.
