1. "kick" means to reply in order to bring the thread to the top of the page.
So, the tradition at DU is to only type "kick" in the reply, just so that it automatically goes back to the top, because you think it's an important thread.

3. When you post it sends the original post to the top.
So is someone wants the post to be noticed and it is too far down on the list, they just type kick.
