1. We need a sign at the entrance of the Lounge.
Either "welcome, c'mon in and play" or "abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

Sorry, I don't know, but I wanted to welcome you. :hi:

I just got it for the free online credit report stuff. But that's nice. So far not very predatory!

5. How do you bread your fried chicken?
Are your cats indoor cats or outdoor cats?

How do you feel about breastfeeding? In public?

What about smoking?

If you are able to answer the above without laughing yourself sick, the lizards are willing to help.

 Not at you. The lounge is a VERY special place.

8. Well Howdy, Midlodemocrat...!
Well. let's see, shall we??

Depends on my mood, I will use everything from panko crumbs, sesame seeds and well seasoned flour; Cooking is my hobby..

Neither indoor nor out, I'm terribly allergic to cats....

Breastfeeding is a perfectly natural thing...public or otherwise, as long as the person being nursed is too young to have a driver's permit...

Frankly, I hate smoking, I'm allergic and it killed my best friend in the world, my mom....
BUT if a person wants to smoke, as long as they don't infringe on another's right to breath actual air, knock yourself out and I'm a native California girl, born and bred....

I think that I'm going to have LOTSA fun here...:hi:

10. You're going to love it here. There are some incredibly funny
people who post in the lounge.

I post in GD/LBN/GD Politics, but the lounge is a great place to blow off some stream and get a couple of laughs.

Seriously, you will really enjoy it here. Welcome!!! (Not that the lounge is MINE to welcome you to, but you will really like it in here. When I joined after lurking for almost two years...the intellect in GD kind of intimidated me...I came to the lounge one night after reading and posting in GD and everyone was so friendly and so welcoming.

After all, no matter what teeny issues divide us, we all want the same thing...the defeat of the BFEE.

13. Generally good
When I lived in Seattle, where they are based, I used to handle their newspaper ad accounts between my company and their ad agency - they were very reliable on all fronts of their business. They are the 2nd largest home mortgage lender in the country, and the largest savings bank.

I am disappointed that they ended their practice of not charging ATM fees if you withdraw funds from a competing bank. Like any bank that becomes large, they start getting greedy. I call it the Bank of America Syndrome.

But you should do okay by them. Welcome to the Lounge!

I just installed a new operating system on my computer, and lost my DU password. As you can see, I don't post much, but seeing this question was enough to motivate me to ask for another password to login.

Stay as far away from Washington Mutual as possible. The worst banking experience I (and several of my friends) have ever had.

They're great, as long as you don't want to go to another state and say, umm, get money from your account.

I opened an account in California and banked with them down there for several years without issue. I moved back to Idaho, and went to a local branch to access my account. They couldn't find it. Seriously -- they had no record of any account with them. How do you lose an account?

I later went back to another branch, and they couldn't find it either. It was explained to me that the Washington Mutuals are actually separate companies "for tax reasons." I don't care how your corporation is set up -- as a customer it should look like the same f**king company to me! It took them several days to finally get my account information, and I had problems every time I went in after that with confused tellers not sure what was going on when they tried to access my account. I closed my account (with much effort), walked out, and never looked back.

I told my tale of warning to friends who had accounts, but nobody listened. A couple of months ago, I had a friend visit me. He said, "You know how you always complained about Washington Mutual? Well, I understand now. They've completely f**cked me over."

My friend went to Hawaii for a conference. Washington Mutual decided that him leaving the state was suspicious activity and locked his account. He was in a different state, with absolutely no access to his money. To make a long story short, when he called them, they basically said it was his tough luck.

He also had issues with them illegally holding government paychecks for deposit. When he went in and explained the law to the manager, he finally conceded that they were handling it wrong and that the problem would be resolved. It never was.

On edit: I just mentioned to my wife how I posting my feelings for Washington Mutual. She was there while my friend was giving us his woes from the bank, and she reminded me of his quote, "They're fine as long as you don't want them to do anything."
