Somebody scratched my new car
And I am pissed. I don't know if it was done on purpose (like by keying) or if it was just carelessness but I swear I hate people more and more everyday. Why can't they watch what they're doing? It sucks living in apartment complex, having to park so close to other people. It is not very noticeable but it is to me. I do realize that something like this was bound to happen. I guess it's better to get it over with quickly but still. I wonder if getting some touch-up paint will help or just make it worse?

1. That sucks. If the car is new/newer
then I'd not use touch up paint. See if it can be buffed out.

I agree that it seems folks are more careless each day.

2. Well part of the scratch looks a little deep.
So I am not sure if it will come out with buffing but it is worth a try.

3. I live in the city. I would never have a car that was "pretty".
In the city, your car's front and back bumpers are immediately scratched and dented, and then the side-view mirror action starts. :D

Sorry hon, but you're right, it was bound to happen, and who cares, really?

4. Oh yeah, don't you just love that. I remember when I parked my brand
new truck on the street for less than an hour, and came back to a scratch from the mirror all the way to the back of the truck and the mirror was pushed in towards the driver side window. It was kinda obvious that it was someone on a bicycle hit it and went all the way down the side with the handle bar. I remember wishing that the cyclist hit the mirror with their face first and I looked for blood droplets. Arghhh.

5. It is inevetible
I just wish it had taken maybe a few months before this happened. I have been trying not to park next to anyone but I got lazy and gave up. Now I just need a way to fix it. I've been looking and it seems like polishing/buffing would be the first step.

One reason why I have avoided buying anything new is that if a car is used, I know it has a few scratches/dings already and I don't care so much. But this time I couldn't find a used one. It's really dumb to be so upset over something so trivial. But I am like a bull in a china cabinet- I really can't keep anything nice for one reason or another.

6. Try the buffing route first. If it's not deep, that should take it right
out. If not, check at the auto parts store. When I got my scratch I found a scratch removing wax that I was able to rub in to get out the damage. I didn't think it'd work, but it sure did. If they don't have that, look for those touch up pens, makes it a lot less messy.

7. I remember the day I bought my first new car.
The first thing I did was take my boy out for a ride. It probably wasn't a good idea to stop for chocolate milkshakes. I suppose you can guess what happened next.

8. Oh no!
That can't be good. I have made not to eat or drink anything but water in the car. We'll see how long I keep that vow.
