I use Mozilla on Windows. How do I keep Spyware out? |
|
I run Spybot S&D, and every time it picks up a bunch of spyware incidences, which I then fix. But I'd like to keep them out preventatively. Spybot has an "immunize" feature to block incoming spyware when using Internet Explorer, but not for Firefox. Is there a switch I can flip inside Mozilla to block incoming spyware?

1. You shouldn't GET spyware with Mozilla. |
|
Spybot is probably detecting the tracking cookies you get from some sites. But Mozilla has no ActiveX controls (unlike IE), so (unlike IE) actual spyware (trojans/backdoors/keystroke loggers/etc) can't be installed without your knowledge.
You can go to 'privacy & security settings' in your preferences and change the setting for cookies to a more secure one, or to block any cookies not originating from websites you view, which should help.

You have to go into preferences/cookies (I think) and select the feature that lets you approve or dissaprove the cookies you will allow. Look in tools.
You should add Spyblaster to your arsenal also. ;)
