Listen up, John Carpenter, you son of a bitch!
Near the end of your version of "The Thing", you had the opportunity for Macready (Kurt Russell) to say something really cool just before he pitches the TNT into the gaping maw of the Thing, as it contorted itself into a composite man/dog hybrid.

What did you have him say? What was the clever retort you cooked-up?

Why, it was the Twain-worthy benchmark of wit: "Yeah? Well fuck you, too!"

Listen, John, that was just terrible. When somebody suggested putting a bunch of monkeys and typwriters together to create great literature, they were being figurative, okay? They didn't mean you should actually try it.

And to think those monkeys probably got residuals and WGA credits. It's nearly obscene.

What Macready should have said was, "Here boy, fetch!"

I don't think I need to validate my position; it speaks for itself.

Please be more thoughtful in the future.

Thank you.
