Gene Hackman - Better Villain or Hero?

Hackman is a pretty good actor IMO. Though I like him as the bad guy... I'm thinking of Quick and the Dead and Unforgiven (not necessarily a villain in Unforgiven, but definately a brutal character who is the antagonist)

1. Great actor

I like how he often plays complex characters though. Sometimes even as a hero he can be a bit of an ass.

But overall, I think it would be more fun to play the villain in a film.

2. My favorite Hackman characters are in "The Conversation" and "Hoosiers."

In either he leans a bit toward either good guy or bad guy but mostly he's human.

I love that.

He's a great actor.

since Hackman is usually a "shades of grey" character... if you think he is a better protagonist, vote hero.. antagonist, vote villain..
