I imagine it would be annoying if it were loud.

Quiet and my two dogs ignore it. I have programmed it to clean when I've gone to bed and no problem sleeping. When its battery gets low, it will seek out its charger and connect itself automatically. It has a side brush to get baseboards, if it detects extra dirt it will circle that area until clean, has a remote control if u want to control it manually, detects stairs, goes under beds, etc. Doesn't do too well on carpet, but my entire house is stone tile and slate. I'm not a salesman, just really like it! You can get skins to cover it so it looks like a cat, a rock, ladybug etc.

We too have no carpets, just hardwood floors throughout with area rugs. Turn it on, leave for the day, come back and all the dog hair is gone.

7. We have hardwood floors and it works like a dream. |

It stopped working for a while, but if I had just paid attention to what it was "telling" me... I would have known to simply remove the side brush and clean out the hair that had wound around it. As long as you keep all the brushes clean, it works beautifully.

10. I've thought about it too... I hate mopping more than I hate vacuuming. |
|
I'll wait a bit for the price to go down, then I will probably get one.

which is fortunate because it's my job. Are those vacuums expensive? I wonder if they could put me out of a job? Can they handle broken glass and large objects? Sometimes we have to sweep the carpet before we can vacuum. Heck, every time we have to pick something up that the vacuum can't handle. Still that would be pretty cool to have that thing going automatically while I stacked chairs and moved tables.

It's not commercial duty,it's designed for homes. It cannot pick up glass and large objects. It's really not even a "vacuum". It has brushes and squeegy that flips the dirt and dust into a holding bin. The Scooba is the mopping robot, also designed for homes. I wouldn't be surprised if someone comes out with a commercial duty size. I always thought an indoor riding vacuum cleaner would sell!

our vacuums at work keep breaking. We just replaced two more motors since April. I bought the cheapest home vacuum from Sears and have been using it at work since January. So far all it needs is a new belt and it has attachments unlike our regular vacuums and can be replaced entirely for the cost of one of those motors.

and it works great on carpet. Probably doesn't do really deep down cleaning...but good enough for touch ups. I usually let the Roomba work on a room or two while I do the rest the old fashioned way.

It would do daily battle with an area rug ... I removed the rug. The beast manages tracked-in dirt brilliantly - I just need to empty it once a week.

15. Yep, it will attack throw rugs. |

I run mine constantly. With 2 large indoor dogs, I empty it a couple of times a day.
