1. I prefer XM
BBC World, Air America, Canada 360, XMPR (XM Public Radio, their own NPR style station), with rumor that More NPR style shows will be coming next year (ie. PHC).

XM Public Radio sched/shows http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=133

XM has a more 'stable' signal (Siruis birds are constantly in motion, can cause signal dropouts fro minutes to hours, I can give you an animation to show that) in my opinion.

3. The general concensus is that XM Hardware is a little more advanced...
if you want a pocket/handheld unit, look at the Pioneer Inno http://www.xmradio.com/pioneerinno/index.jsp#

for the car, a RoadyXT - http://www.xmradio.com/roadyxt/index.jsp

or the AGT Sportscaster - http://www.xmradio.com/sportscaster/index.jsp

if you want a unit in the house, get the RoadyXT and then add the Belkin Boom Box - http://shop.xmradio.com/detail.aspx?pid=145&cat=17

if you search about a bit, you can find some really nice deals on hardware.

7. I like XM better than Sirius
I had the chance to try out Sirius for a week in a rental car. I didn't think it compared to XM, as far a music goes. Also, XM has Air America.

One annoying thing about Sirius is that they have too many music channels with DJ chatter. One of the reasons I pay for satellite is so I don't have to hear all the talk.
