...and just goes to show how much shit Bud Selig is full of...his talk--remember?--about "big" market cities and "small" market cities, and about how baseball--and civilization as we know it--was about to collapse, because NY and LA were going to take over baseball forever, and "small" cities had no chance. Of course, the Yankees won 29 pennants in 44 years from 1921-64...so much for "competitive balance". Then the Twins started kicking ass, after being threatened with extinction...the Florida Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks won World Series...and is Philadelphia, say, a "small" market team because they stunk for so long? Were the Mets a "small" market team because they stunk until this year? And how did Atlanta become a "big" market? Meanwhile, the Tigers sudenly turn from a "small" market team to a "big" one in three years, and bless 'em for it...I remember the days of Kaline and Cash and Colavito and Frank Lary and Charlie "Paw Paw" Maxwell...and the fact that it was the Tigers, NOT the Yankees, who led the AL in runs scored in 1961...let's hope the Pirates can turn it around soon...
