1. I see the palmetto bugs have migrated to Texas.
They're damn common down here in Florida.

3. Wait until a flying cockroach lands on you, that happened to non-Texan
friend of mine. She just jumped up and started screaming.

I haven't seen a flying roach for a few years now.

22. yes, they fly.
The large palmetto bugs can sound like a helicopter taking off (very loud). Living near a large wooded area in Florida, we get lots of them.

25. I hate those damned things.
When they take off, they have no sense of direction, so you can't tell if they are going to dive-bomb you after you spray them.

17. Mr. Slayer, your point isn't lost, but next to Gen. Clark it was ,
shall I say, obscured.

RE: the roach, I have to hope it's taken a hike. I can't believe he/she/it got in here, so how do I get rid of him?

11. Yep they fly
I had them in my bedroom before also, not funny, they probably came in with a box or something, not to worry, they are easier to get rid of than a neocon, LOL.

14. We have the great big flying ones down here...
They usually come into the house when it has been dry, looking for moisture. I haven't seen any lately, because we have had a lot of rain. One day a month ago, I saw three of the damned things in about an hour's time! Thankfully my foster kitties usually take care of them, so I don't have to.

19. Kitties chew on roaches? Now, that's a delicacy for felines, I guess.
I'm not going to Texas anytime soon.

Maybe just to visit.

Thanks for the roach rant.

Good night and good luck!

PS. I used to use this on the "palmetto bugs" in Florida -- they were just -- delightful --

23. My kitties don't eat them, but they LOVE the chase!LOL!
They'll hunt them down and then tag-team them until the roach runs out of steam. I find the evidence in the morning.

15. i had a really bad infestation
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 12:23 AM by Faye
in my old apartment. finally the downstairs neighbors moved out, and they slowly went away. by the time i was packing to move to here, they were all gone. there were none to be seen, i know they can hide well, but seriously, they were gone.

well now i've been in my new apt. for like 5 months and hadn't seen one and keep my apt. super duper clean.....but, obviously someone else here in the building has them because i started seeing a few in the last 2 weeks. i know there is no way eggs would have lasted that long in the things i brought to my new apt. this building's basement is very hot and moist, it attracts all kinds of bugs. i've seen silverfish, cockroaches, spiders, beetles, flies, ants, you name it --- apparently coming up from the basement.

the problem i had at the old apt., the worst area was the kitchen --- i only saw maybe 2 in the whole time there in my bedroom. but here, out of the 4 or 5 i've seen in the last few weeks, 3 have been in my bedroom --- the other 2 in my bathroom. the worst part is that 3 out of the 5 were babies -- which means they are really hatching around here, wherever they are :scared:

i do not want to deal with these fuckers again, so i put Boric acid wherever i could and keep everything as clean as possible, and keep the dishes washed as much as possible....i'm probably going to run out in the next few days and get some baits....and call the landlord on Monday to inform him :eyes:

16. One good thing about living in the desert
You can wrestle with the creatures, and win.

They don't pull that flyin' crap.

18. which desert?
we have them, but they are not too gross, a native species that fly to lights, very thin and delicate, don't like being indoors so they aren/t a typical "roach problem"

20. Aren't they fun?
We have a variety called American Cockroaches here in NC that get up to 1 1/2 inches long and also fly.
They are usually outside, but occasionally find their way indoors.
Had I known they had roaches like this down here, I would never have moved here.

I am terrified of the things.
One thing I found which works is those roach motels made for the larger varieties.

I also keep spray handy and watch the floor alot at night....

21. It would seem you have incurred the Wrath of BugBoy
considering where you live and all. BugBoy's coming home to roost and his minions are on the loose.

Luckily I haven't had as much a problem the last couple of years. My Sweetie who usually has to kill them is still in good control of his skills. I usually scream in high shrills until they have been slaughtered.
We also refer to them as Romulians in Star Trek's honor.
My cats will avoid them at all cost.:(:

I hope you can find it and destroy it.

That dance they called the Charleston? Nobody ever tells you that it was originally the flying roach stomp.
