Precious, necessary, and/or expensive items: Lost, and how?
Yesterday, I severely misunderestimated the Atlantic Ocean, wiped out, and in the process lost my $300 prescription Ray-Ban sunglasses. What a fucking moron.

Since I'm not working, I can't afford another pair. FUCK! what an asshole.

You?

3. Yeah
It was either the Redding Count or the Fall River Mills Count.

You go out all day and count birds. :D

4. Cool!
I didn't know you were a birder. I love birds, love to identify ones I've never seen before, or to identify them by their calls, but I can't even be called an amateur. We feed lots of different kinds of food on our deck and get lots of different birds. :7

I'm sorry about your sunglasses. :(

15. Eh, it's been a few months since I lost 'em
I am over the pain and heartache.

Yeah, I'm a birder! i'm going to Arizona in 2 weeks to see birds! I had the first returning Curlew of the year this morning.

You should post in the birding forum. We need more people there!

7. I don't know, and seriously, I am too angry with myself to check.
I have ridden out bigger surf in the Pacific and never lost my sunglasses. But then, I haven't wiped out in the Pacific, either. I never expected the Atlantic surf to knock me on my ass and churn me around.

6. I left a really nice sand wedge out on a golf course.
Usually, with 99% of golfers, one will pick it up and when it's convenient, will return it. Well, I got the 1% asshole who kept it. I still haven't replaced it. I mean, I've got a sand wedge, but not one like that.

8. Assholes are everywhere.
:(

I felt really bad for that golfer last week - don't remember his name - who got the ball out of the sand trap, only to have it roll down behind him, right back in.

10. My dear bertha!
I am so sorry about your sunglasses!

I lost a pair of normal glasses a year or so ago......by being careless...

I was coming home from the local fair. I had carried a soft bag with my stuff in it.....didn't want to carry my big heavy purse.

Well, all my junk was down at the bottom of the bag, natch!

I was standing by my car so I could empty it to find my car keys....

And yes, you guessed it........I took out my glasses (was wearing my sunglasses at the moment) and set them down on the car's trunk lid.......

And forgot them........

Didn't realize it till I got home....went back to find them.......

Saw them in the street, where they had been run over....

Parked the car, and retrieved them....

Luckily, I still had an older pair that was a very similar prescription...

How fucking stupid could you get?

I've never done anything like that before.....or since!

:hi:

11. Well I thought I had lost a $70 pair of earbud headphones a few weeks ago
Thought I had lost them while I was out of town skateboarding, but it turns out I'm just really forgetful and put them on the coffee table when I got home. Took me two or three days to realize I hadn't lost them though.

12. I often forget to take purchases with me when I leave stores......
On a trip to New Orleans about 4 years ago, I left several articles of clothing in the hotel and didn't realize it for a couple of weeks because it took me that long to unpack. Two years ago on a trip to Vegas, our camera fell out of my bag in the cab during the ride from the airport to the hotel.

13. Stolen in one swoop:
Brand new iPod (60G), cell phone, digital camera, car stereo, RayBans.

Taken from a non-visible space in my truck in less than 10 minutes, in a busy Ikea parking lot.

Fuckin' Swedes.

On the upside, I neve leave my laptop anywhere, so I was carrying it with me.

14. Once within an hour (while sober) I lost...
$100 cash, my mastercard, and an illicit substance. I found everything after another hour or so. Amazingly, they were in three seperate locations. I don't know how I do these things.

16. Not me, but my husband:
*Expensive cell phone. Idiot Boy misplaced it and never remembered where he put it. It's still missing, and it's been four years. :eyes: Had to buy a new one because of it. ($125)

*Expensive prescription sunglasses. Idiot Boy again misplaced them and never remembered where he put them. They're still missing, and it's been four and a half years. :eyes: Had to buy new ones because of it. :eyes: ($200)

*Expensive crown from one of his teeth. He has congenital dental problems, and every single one of this teeth has a crown and some have root canals. Idiot Boy was eating a Riesen and a crown came off, and he spit it out. Wrapped it up in a napkin to take to the dentist for refitting, and he threw the napkin away accidentally. That was about ten years ago. :eyes: He wasn't supposed to be eating Riesen, that's for damn sure! :grr: ($875)

So, stupidity has cost us at least $1200....

On the other hand, I don't seem to lose stuff. That's a blessing, because he's made up for it in spades. :P

17. I'm not sure about precious or necessary,
but I lost my .8 carat engagement ring, my gold wedding band and an anniversay band set with diamonds. It was during our move... about $7K worth of jewelry! :banghead:
