No matter how much you love Star Trek, don't do this
A long time ago in a galaxy very much like ours, two people who loved each other also found out that they loved Star Trek.

To celebrate their love, they got all their friends to come to their wedding dressed like Klingons.

Uhh...weren't the Klingons the Bad Guys?

3. Only on the original series

In Next Gen and the later series the Klingons are allies of the Federation. The costumes are of the reimagined Next-Gen Klingons, easily distinguished from the classic Trek version by thier forehead ridges and larger bodies. (The generally accepted reason for the change is that there was a famine on Q'onos in Kirk's day which led both to smaller Klingon bodies and undeveloped forehead ridges and also to greater agression as they sought new territory to exploit and feed the warrior class.)

Yeah, I know, I'm a geek.

4. (Pulling out my reserved seat at the geek table)
According to Worf, Klingons didn't like to talk about it. So, how did you find out?

6. Chatting with dudes with forehead prosthetics at conventions.
I don't think there's a cannonical explanation at all. Sorta like the inner workings of the Heisenberg Compensator: "how does it work?" "very well, thank you."

Apparently Enterprise, which I couldn't stand to watch, mucked up even that rather dicey expanation and came up with another. I wasn't aware of that. Anyhow, here's the info (with photos and analysis of Klingon brow ridges) http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/inconsistencies/klingon-foreheads.htm

8. I see
Well, your explanation sounds at least plausible.

You didn't miss much; Enterprise sucked.

7. There's a full replica of the star ship enterprise at the Las Vegas Hilton
Where you can get married by either star fleet officers or klingons. And you can have one of them give you away too. Skip wanted to get married there. I said no.
