What's that like 3 or 4 beers? I've had that many by the end of the 1st quater of a football game and I assure you not once did I label my teams former quarterback, Jay Fiedler, a lousy Jew.

although I do admit to labeling many other things......

1. Symptom of an alcoholic
Or a least one symptom. A striking personality change takes place after even modest consumption.

Think Jekyll/Hyde.

3. Last-Stages Alkies Do Become Lightwieghts
My dad was like that -- as far as I could remember he would guzzle these martinis and you couldn't even tell, what happens is your organs stop filtering it properly (liver disease in his case.) So ingesting one drink would be like shooting it up or something. One gin in his last drinking days would have him incoherent, where as five in other times in his life, you couldn't even tell.

7. Yes. I have a friend who recently cleaned up with AA and I
could see her personality change completely after one strong drink. I haven't given any opinions on this Mel Gibson thing because I don't really care one way or the other. I haven't liked him for years since I found out he dislikes gays, believes world over-population is ridiculous, and, well, is simply one of those people who says all these "absolute" type of statements that others have mentioned, but chooses to do whatever the hell he damn pleases. The usual nut-job hypocrite kind of person that is just too disgusting to watch even though I did like many of his earlier movies. I don't expect entertainers to believe in everything I believe in, but they can at least make some kind of sense and not open their bigoted fat mouths. Oops. I shouldn't have commented at all.

2. I Think There Must Have Been Some Other Substances Involved
He has admited in the past to being a very, very addictive personality (sex, drugs, booze whatever.) IMO he substituted that nutty quasi-Catholic "religion" he's so obsessed with, kind of a dry drunk substitution.

He's a very sick puppy. Another reminder that fame and wealth do not happiness buy. And "being religious" does not make you imune to crackups, quite the contrary IMO.

5. Don't know what he weighs
But he's very short, FWIW. Maybe 3 or 4 is all it takes for him.

8. One drink is too much, a thousand not enough.
At least he admitted it, which is the first step, and then made amends. As much as I think he's a weird fucking lunatic, he did take responsibility.

I coud still drink him under the table before I sobered up, tho.

9. and the weird thing is -- the disease progresses whether you drink or not.
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 06:18 PM by xchrom
so if mel stopped drinking and it was ten beers that got him rip roaring and in trouble -- stopped drinking for x number of years -- his disease would pick up as if he hadn't stopped drinking -- i.e. instead of ten beers then 6 or whatever.

19. My opinion is that what comes out of drunks is what's in them.
It seems to me that before his arrest, there were questions about Gibson's anti-semitism. Now there should be no questions whatsoever.

I've been dead assed drunk in my life, but I have never felt inspired to make a racist statement of any kind because of it.
