Does anyone here read Terry Pratchett?
I've had his or her (Terry could be either) books recommended to me by a couple of people. Are they good? Worth reading? Someone suggested I start with some "discworld" books.

2. I've heard wonderful things about him...
But I've only read one...something about 'wee free men'??? They were little blue men who cussed and drank and stole sheep and...

And...it was a Riot. I loved it.

3. I've only read "Good Omens" but it was really good.
It's actually by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

5. Avid fan
I recommend him with absolutely no caveats--he has a great sense of humor, a great persistent world setting (moves from story to story), and a lot of memorable characters. I'd give him a read (be forewarned, the book "Interesting Times" has not been widely accepted by people of Asian ancestory--it is an interesting book, but he got skewered for it by some PC groups, and for good reason.)

6. Religiously.
Terry Pratchett is one of my favourite authors. And he wrote a book with another author I love Neil Gaiman, "Good Omens," which was magnificent.

You can read any of the Discworld books first, but to get a good feel for it you may want to start with the earlier ones. I think I read "Soul Music" first, and its still up there as the most memorable.

9. He's been getting weaker lately, but his early-middle stuff is great.

The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Small Gods, Sourcery, Eric, Guards! Guards!, Men at Arms, Feet of Clay, Interesting Times, and The Last Continent (among many others) are all excellent.

The only recent books of his I've liked were The Fifth Elephant, Carpe Jugulum, and The Truth.

11. Terry Pratchett is GREAT!!!
Yes, definitely, give yourself a treat and do yourself a favor and pick up some Discworld!
:bounce:
I'm re-reading Feet of Clay for the umpteenth time right now...
and to me, the re-reading is the acid test.
Terry's books are ALL 'old friends' that are fun, comforting, and yet make ya think when you re-visit them.

I loves me some Terry Pratchett, I do...
:loveya: :headbang:

12. Thanks everyone!
I got the first three books from Discworld - The Color of Magic, The Light Fantastic, and Equal Rites.

Hmm the book cover actually spells "color" c-o-l-o-r. Isn't this guy British? Maybe the publisher edited the American version in case I couldn't translate "colour"? LOL
