What kind of half-assed company is Fedex?
I was supposed to have a package delivered today and I took off work because I have to sign for it. I saw the truck out front and then it just took off. I looked at my tracking number and they had already put in that I was unavailable and they will deliver it tomorrow.

I called their "customer service" and the woman said she was sorry about that and the package will be delivered tomorrow. She told me they have no way to get a hold of the drivers. What the hell? Now I have to take off tomorrow too? I am a little pissed off. What the hell kind of shipping company is Fedex?

Sorry for the rant, I am just really pissed off right now.

1. Dude, they can't get ahold of the driver
What do you think, they have some kind of tiny "phones" that are "mobile" or something? This isn't the "FUTURE!!" y'know. :eyes:

43. They can't
I worked a center that had a fedex contract. Them there nice canadians can only answer the phone. Fedex does not release numbers, and the hired company doesn't allow outgoing calls. So there. Neener baneener.

2. you need to make sure that you don't have to be present
or have to sign for the package or they won't deliver again. You may have to leave direction to have your neighbor sign for the package. You should call them back and find out what you have to do so you don't have to take another day off.

This is a mixing board I am having delivered and it cost me a pretty penny. Good think I didn't book anyone in the studio for tomorrow or something. I will never use them.

32. That happened to me, too.
I even had it delivered to my workplace, and the truck gets here about 15 minutes before 5.
According to FedEx Ground, my package was on the truck but the FedEx driver didn't even
get out of our truck.

I asked the next day, and the receptionist told me a FedEx truck stopped in front of the doors the
previous evening, then drove off after a minute.

I was rather pissed. They delivered it the next day, but what kind of shitty driver doesn't even
get out of the damn truck?

7. I've had more luck with them than UPS. Right now I'm majorly peeved
because the US Postal unService seems to be out to get me: I sent a birthday present by Priority Mail on May 22 and it still is MIA; bought a thing on eBay (actually, original 1970 movie poster for That's The Way It Is) that was sent via Priority on May 17 and still hasn't reached me. :grr:

I'm feeling a bit postal about it.

Had some absolutely awful tribulations with UPS over the years but FedEx has bene pretty good to me except for when they kept having problems finding one of the places I lived.

Yeah, best to go to the FedEx facility and pick it up yourself...give them a call first, because (unlike UPS and the USPS) they do actually seem to have a tracking system that works most of the time.

9. Have a nice vacation!
Yeah, I've been told the same thing. Kinda weird. I thought the drivers checked in every now and then, somehow...maybe they do it through their little magic signature tablet thingies.

Good luck!

24. Us too with FedEx vs. UPS.
Everything we receive from UPS arrives in a crushed box and many times the stuff inside is damaged. We never have that problem with FedEx. If we have a choice, we choose FedEx every time.

11. Um, a half-assed one.
They lost our spikey clock. When Mystery Science Theater was cancelled in the 1990s, my bough some of the rpops and set pieces. One is the spikey clock for the Satellite set. Fed Ex lost the fucking thing.

By the way, for language snobs: it is 'half-adzed' not 'half-assed.' An adze is a tool similar to an axe except with a horizontal blade. It is used for finish work including the decking of ships. If the finishing is done in haste leaving a rough surface, it is half-adzed.

You bought some of the props! Lucky duck! I was too broke at the time, and so wasn't able to bid on anything, to my everlasting regret. I don't remember a clock, though - may I ask where it was seen on the set?

It's painted the same as the background but it's quite visible in the episodes (Sci-Fi Channel era).

12. I've had the same kind of thing happen to me twice
with FedEx, recently they tried to deliver to the wrong address (only place on the street, hard to get confused) and sent the package back to shipper saying package had been refused causing considerable delay and aggravation. Dropped fragile package from top shelf of truck also on another very late delivery. I will not consider buying anything online or that has to be shipped unless it is NOT shipped FedEx.

13. FedEx ground or FedEx air?
They are two different beasts. The ground company used to be RPS and they now suck, IMO. We used to deal with them a lot at work. They contract out a lot of their work and don't have very good customer service, at least in my experience. I always had a lot better luck with UPS. Sucks that that happened. :(

15. I see you live in Cleveland
You should have a local FedEx hub, and should be able to pick up that package there after six. The address and phone number should be in the phone book, so you might even be able to call and complain, and have the guy come back with the package.

It is about 45 minutes from where I live. The one number, no one answered and the other number was a voice mail. I left a message just a few minutes ago, but I doubt they will call back. I called the 1-800 number this morning but the woman said in so many words.."Oh well".

17. Oh, OK,
If it was me, I would probably go over there and bitch, because I know for a fact that they can and do communicate with their drivers on a regular basis throughout the day by radio. Sounds to me like they're just giving you the run around in order not to have to come back.

This is why I have a lot of my packages sent to my workplace, in order to make sure it gets delivered. But a lot of companies frown on that, so you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've always thought it a bit ridiculous, and quite inconvienent to have to be around to sign for shit. I mean there are certain things that need to be signed for, but frankly most of the stuff could simply be left at the door or in the mailbox, no signature needed.

Well, if it's any consolation to you, UPS sucks just as bad too, at least here where I live. Frankly there isn't a package delivery company out there that does the job right, day in, day out. I work at a nuclear research reactor, shipping radioactive material out for therapeutic use, etc., and lord, the stories I could tell you, patient doses going around for days in the back of some truck, far from their destination.

Sorry for your hassle, I hope you get your package soon.:hi:

18. They're amazing sometimes and dreadful others
They screwed us on a package delivery to an important client.

We arranged to have something picked up at our home - didn't want to stay at the office for a late pickup - they never showed.

Long story short, we ended up having to arrange for another company to drive the package to our client.

We wrote a letter to the CEO of FedEx complaining about the extremely unhelpful service rep. Couple of weeks later we get a check for the cost of the messenger service, and a HUGE gift basket in apology.

One thing I know about them - they're non-union. They probably aren't being paid enough to be very good, so the service you get depends on the disposition of the person you deal with.

I've had luck in the past with just leaving a note on the door telling the driver that I authorize him to leave the package. I don't they are supposed to, but I've never had one not leave it. Maybe just as a backup measure.

left a package for someone else and didn't bother to come back for it so we ate it. The dog's would've otherwise. Not my fault. The person to whom it was intened was not even in the state so Fed-Ex has to pay for their mistake. I hate this because now I feel guilty.
