Night shift loungers: How would you interpret this... |
|
Let's say you work with a member of the opposite sex. You know this person somewhat well, perhaps a step above casual. You meet with this person from time to time in a generally professional setting. The person seems friendly yet aloof.
Then, one day, during a meeting with this person, he or she quietly invites you out to play a game of raquetball, one-on-one, that Saturday. No one else has been invited.
Should you interpret this person's actions as:
a) Friendly, just trying to get to know you better
b) Friendly, but might be trying to move toward a relationship
c) Is trying to get laid
What's your take?

13. because whoever the married person is |
|
shouldn't be putting themselves in situations like this, this is how extra-marital affairs happen. I'm married, and if my wife knew that I was going hiking, or playing games with another woman, she would be highly suspicious, and become jealous.
It's not that she has a trust issue with me persay, but she does have a trust issue, with other women. On the other hand, I have witness three close friends, cheat on their respective married others, via scenario's, that you bring forth in your OP. The other scenario's,
1. Going out to the bar to have a few drinks, and so and so will be there, and so will my girl friends=wife cheating on husband...
2. Our office is having a semi-get together at a restaurant, its going to be small talk, boring...=husband cheating on wife(three times, three different women)....

No... no condescending, older men apply here. A guy who works at my lab.
Although... that would be an interesting twist to this "rhetorical" situation...

9. Go play a game of racquetball. At the least, you'll get a good workout... |
|

...and take it for what it is. If you both feel something different, then go from there. Don't over analyze it. You'll know if you "connect". And if you don't want to connect with this person, then you will at least have had a good workout.
On edit: all the married talk above leads me to believe one of you is married. If so, that's a whole different ball game.

14. If you or his spouse has an open relationship, then it wouldn't matter... |
|
...but I'm not sure which one of you is married, so I'll just assume it's one or the other. As said, if it's an open relationship with your partners, no problem....
But if one of your spouse's would care, then you both are taking a chance, because you could get caught. In that case, you possibly could be looking at lawyers, kids, divorces, in-laws, lives that are wrecked, jobs that are lost when the boss finds out, and a plethora of other real world issues. You see, if one of you is married, the issues are bigger than the raging hormones involved.

Perhaps the Inviter merely heard a rumor at some point that the Invitee was a tremendous raquetball player and wants to verify the information because the Inviter is involved in a mixed doubles raquetball tournament and their origianal partner was accidentally killed in some sort of wacky raquetball mishap.
