Don't let your cat drink from a squirt bottle. |
|
So, I keep this squirt bottle on my sink for hair styling purposes. I'm in the loo doing my business, typically while I'm in there (for a reason nobody knows), one of my cats likes to follow me in, and hop in the bathtub. Now, like any typical cat, he doesn't necessarily like to drink his water just from the bowl. Cups, glasses, bathtubs, my ankle after getting out of the shower...whatever.
So, I guess there was a drip of water at the tip of the nozzle on the bottle. My cat starts licking it. As a joke, I figure I'd spray a stream of water at him. He, instead of running away, tries to drink the water. So, I hold the bottle about a half inch from his mouth, and began spraying (not using full pressure, mind you), a small stream of water at him. His tounge goes nuts. He starts lapping as fast as he can, until I'm squeezing the trigger like I'm about to clean something.
Now, the damn cat cries every few hours because he wants to drink from the squirt bottle for a few seconds.
Damn spoiled cat.

3. get your cat one of these |
|
my daughter got one for her cat..and now she doesn't need to leave the sink faucet running. For some reason, cats love moving water to drink.

We have two of them. One like that, and one that's a mini-down spout.

9. I have two of those in my house because I |
|
have 5 cats. I had 6 until recently. While they do drink out of them, they all seem to love drinking water out of the dog's bowl! Go figure...I think they do stuff like this just to mess with my head.

13. Yes! I've had one for 3 years, now. |
|
The critters love it! Just make sure the reservoir is full, especially during the heat waves we've had.
However, one of the kitties still drinks from the bathroom faucet and the other one drinks water from the lawn sprinkler.
I think cats will seek out weird places to find water.

8. I had one that loved to drink from the drippy tub faucet. So I |
|
moved to a place where the tub did NOT drip. Damn cat sat in the bathroom and cried until I turned the faucet to trickle for him.
The next cat developed a fondness for drinking from the tap in my bathroom. She would sit in the sink and cry for the faucet to be turned on, which we of course would do. Then she would cry again when she was finished so we could turn it off and we thought she was the dumb cat!

A cat that doesn't fear a squirt bottle is like a vampire that likes garlic. You have given up one of the most important weapons in the arsenal of man's age-old battle against feline mischief. You must stop renting videos immediately because sniffing and rubbing their cheeks on the cases is how house cats will spread the word about this newfound vulnerablity.

18. Thanks for the pix, LOL! Love them! What a cute kitty! |
|
And I know where the OP is coming from! My beloved kitty used to wake me up to give her a drink. Though she had plenty of water, and I even got her a fountain, she liked it from a cup in the bathroom...:eyes:
And my friend, in rescue, who placed two dogs with me, would turn on the faucet as your friend does. One of her numerous kitties wouldn't drink from anyplace else.:D
