Holy Crap! I've become the Main Course at a never-ending Mosquito Feast! |
|
...Okay, check this out: I live in the fog of San Francisco. Rarely does it get over 65 in the summer, yet for some reason I'm infested with the little bitches (the biting ones are female; I've learned far more than I ever wanted to know about mosquitos in the last week.) And the little bleeders seem to have found a great breeding ground either in or near my house, despite the fact that I have no standing water. I even empty the cat's water twice a day just to be sure.
I hunt the bloody parasites down and kill about 3 or 4 a day, I wear skin-so-soft to bed, yet they're still coming after me:grr: . I'm reluctant to bomb, because of the cat, but things are getting desperate. Has anyone else had this problem and dealt with it? Any other suggestions to get rid of the unwanted houseguests?????

1. Do you have screens on your windows? |

I am told that, strangely, there are actually some places where people don't have window screens because they usually don't have a bad mosquito problem. Here (Minnesota) we do, though the skeeters haven't been all that bad lately because it's been so hot. But we have to have screens, preferably without holes. I especially hate it when I'm trying to sleep and a mosquito gets in and buzzes around me ear, "NeeeeeeEEEEEeeeeeeee" until I can find it and swat it. If you do have the little monsters in your house, your best bet is a real bug repellent like Deep Woods Off. Skin-So-Soft won't hold off a really serious mosquito.

2. Mosquitos don't like everyone... |
|
But they love me.
I grew up with them on the Gulf coast.
Now they are here in the Santa Clarita valley where they used to not be.
Check for open areas to the outside. Holes in screens, gaps in the doow weatherstripping etc. If you have a pet and a pet door, you are screwed cuz they ride the pet indoors.
