2. You know
I lived in Biloxi, MS for about 4 months and went to NO a couple of times...never heard of these at all when I was down there and never tried one.

Somehow I managed to miss out big time. ;(

18. How the hell did that happen? Beignets are the food of the gods.

You must have them at Cafe du Monde with cafe au lait. :)

6. Pralines - I still have some Aunt Sally's wrapped up
and in a secret place for emergencies of course.

Another box is buried with my mother, who loved them as well. She died unexpectedly a week after we came back from New Orleans the last time...I had a box just for her, so I sent her along with it.

OK, 'scuze me a sec...maybe now is emergency praline time.

13. Me too! I bought the ones she took specifically for her
I remember saying - oh GOD Mom will be so happy to get these...once we got back we had our pool liner replaced the next day, and then she had a dentist appointment then her and Dad took off for a couple of days, so I never spoke to her except on the phone...so I did not see her before she died to give them to her. SO, off to heaven they went with her!

22. The first time I ate them was on a bench in Jackson Square -
the place looked like a snow-storm had hit by the time I was through! Eventually I got the knack of it - learning not to breathe out while biting was a help...
