Ever suddenly realize what you actually look like? (photo)

Me and my SO at my daughter's wedding. Now, I look better than I normally do on a given afternoon but when I saw this, I realized several things that I hadn't before, I guess because I usually just glance in a mirror on my way out the door and don't really notice much unless I have a big smear of dirt on my face.

1. Next time I go to an event with a photographer.... BOTOX! Oh, my god, where did all those wrinkles come from!

2. I really need to lift some weights because my arms look like my third grade teacher's which jiggled when she wrote on the chalkboard.

3. I really need to get my teeth capped.

And I'm not fishing for compliments - I thought I did look nice that day but I honestly hadn't realized how old I've gotten, I guess!

1. Whenever I see pictures of myself
I wonder why I look so different from how I see myself in the mirror.

I don't like how I look, but most people don't like how they look so I guess that's normal.

2. It's similar to hearing your voice on the answering machine
I'm always taken aback by it - I hate the way my voice sounds and it sounds nothing at all the way I hear it.

4. I don't mind hearing myself speak, but I can't stand
to hear myself sing.
:puke:

Why don't people tell me to shut up?

That's a good picture of you though. Photographers usually try to frame it so that the beer doesn't show. :) But other than the beer bottle he framed a decent picture.

9. There are more pictures with me with a drink than without.
Most of them aren't professional though.

At my mom's wedding, the photographer kept trying to position me so that my tattoos didn't show, even though she told him she didn't care if there were tattoos in the wedding photos. Eventually, he gave up and stopped trying to hide the right side of my body, as I turned my left arm awkwardly to hide my inner forearm.

16. This one wasn't taken by the pro
But it is amazing how many shots of me from that day show me with a beer. I had two, for crying out loud!

6. I hate my voice when I hear it played back.
I absolutely can't stand to listen to it. It doesn't sound like what I hear when I talk at all.

5. lifting weights will change much, much more than your arms.
it's just one of the very best ways to exercise your body and get really good health benefits.

and don't be afraid to really lift some weight -- you are never -- ever -- no not ever -- look like a guy.

ain't gonna happen.

18. Yeah, I really want to get going on that seriously
Believe it or not, just ten years ago, I was amazingly buff. I was working concrete and steel on a road construction crew and was built like the proverbial brick shithouse. Between breaking my back and working a softer job, I've just kind of let things go. But I think the infrastructure is still there, so to speak.

7. Don't judge yourself on a Moment!
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 06:45 PM by GoPsUx
Thats all that picture was a moment.
crazy lighting and other things come in to play.
Maybe that millisecond you made a facial expression that you hate and some photographer captured it.
It does not mean that every millisecond following that you didn't look fabulous!!!!

15. Thanks
However, there are about 200 photos of me on that day and I look like a freak in every one of them. But thanks anyway. :hi:

8. I'm still trying to add like 40 pounds to my mental picture of myself
The shock from seeing the fat guy in those pictures is pretty extreme.

19. I look more like the other kind though
Unfortunately here in the real world I have to work with the lighting I get and if I look washed out, shiny or fat I just have to deal. :(

13. The last picture taken of me was on my 40th birthday...
I'm 45 now. Don't want to know what I look like in pictures. I never, ever look good them anyway! I'm better in real life!

BTW... You look just fine! :)

20. Yeah, even when I looked my best, I never took a good picture
Especially a posed one. I was always better in candid shots but even then it was hit and miss. (I'm 45, too. And thanks!)

22. I think you look lovely...but I know what you mean! I HATE most pics of
myself, and yes, the sound of my own voice too...

I thought I looked pretty good at my daughter's graduation, until I saw the pix...rolls above and below my bra; the flabby upper arm thing; double chin; wrinkles I didn't know I had; YIKES!

Just yikes. Very depressing!

23. You know, I still see the fat guy I used to be in pictures.
I still have a lot of residual effects from being REALLY overweight for a long time. So, even though I really don't have the fat that causes a double chin, I still have the skin. So, I still look fat. (At least in my eyes...)

I KNOW better, but still...

I'm not very good at simply being content. :eyes:
