What am I up against when I fly on Monday?

Quick, I'm at a convention with limited time and very limited Internet access. Everyone is suddenly talking about airline restrictions and that we'll face long security and no carryons when we fly out. I don't have time to watch the news or dig through the news online, so can someone please summarize quickly what I have to face when I fly home to Pittsburgh from Orlando on Monday?

2. The best I know is

No liquids — beverages, lotions, hair gels, etc. You can have carry-on baggage. I'd call your airline and ask for info if you get the time.

Get to the airport at Least two hours ahead of your flight if that's possible.

4. You're absolutely right.

The "no carry on" rule is CURRENTLY only in effect for those traveling from the UK to the US.

Having fun in Orlando? That's where I am! It's admittedly too much for some people.

7. Sheesh! I'm glad I drove to Florida for the last two trips.

On my flight home back in May they scanned and patted down my body while they emptied my carry on luggage and my computer case. I hate walking around barefooted on floors that I know are crawling with bacteria! The only thing they didn't do was a cavity search. My round trip flight was my first in 12 years.

BTW I had to pack my purse into my carry on luggage or check either my computer or the carry on. They didn't pull that on my flight down. :shrug: I was flying the same airline through the same airports both ways. What's up with that? :grr:

I don't fly airlines as much as I used to because of this "homeland security" crap. They want you to show up two hours early to take a damn flight. Its often better to drive when you factor in the cost of tickets and all the B.S. you have to put up with.
I can beat the airlines in a Cessna 172 for most east coast flights if the airline flight isn't direct.

When you add the cost of hotel accommodations and fueling an 8 cylinder vehicle flying is cheaper for me but I Won't Do It again anytime soon! I think stepping up the security is necessary but I don't need to fly.




The TV broadcast news just reported that laptops will not be allowed as carry-on for international flights.

13. Apprarently, at Dulles, passengers showed up early today...

only to have to stand around and wait for TSA, who did NOT show up early today. :eyes: Crazy.
