You know, I feel better when I ignore the news. |
|
I'm glad I don't watch any news shows, and only quickly glance at the headlines of most of the articles in the local newspaper.
Sure does help to keep me sane.
Every time I watch the news (like I stupidly did this morning for a while), or read the shitty, ignorant little articles my little local newspaper prints, I just get too irate and depressed and sad with all the obvious lies, obfuscations, and generally piss-poor "journalism". Plus, in the stupid little paper here, reading the headline generally gives all the content that one is gonna find in the article, anyway.

I tried to watch cable news for a few minutes during Hurricane Katrina last year, but I could feel my IQ dropping as they repeated the same few facts over and over amid the really stupid speculation, so I turned it off and went back to DU.

Yesterday, it had a 20-inch story on a missing cat.
Yeah, a missing cat.

I was not amused. How is a fellow to read his Victorian novel with that crap blaring at him?

From 1977, mind you...
"Well, I don't read that daily news, 'cause it ain't hard to figure why people get the blues. If they can't dig what they can't use, and stick to themselves, there'd be much less abuse..."
